Yea, I think I'll go with the method that worked yesterday evening. Just placing one dubia at a time on the screen, that way I can monitor how many are in the cage, and he can hunt one at a time. I basically placed one on the screen near his basking spot, he ate it, then I placed another. I...
So, good news and bad news:
BAD NEWS: When I got home, Koopa hadn't eaten ANY of the dubias out of the cup.. He just refuses to get the easy meal :(
GOOD NEWS: I removed the cup, then placed the dubias, one by one, on the screen and he ate each and every one of them. So, he likes dubias...
Hmmm.. Between their hate for the color red, and their infamous gangsta-lean while basking, I'm starting to become slightly suspicious about these chams :p
:DIn all seriousness, I wore a bright red shirt yesterday for the first time around my cham.. in fact, I held him yesterday and he was...
I guess that's something I could try so they don't go to waste.. I guess crickets will remain my staple feeder.. Unless I can find a source that sells small grasshoppers or something, that would be an interesting feeder. Right now, I'd have to say my cham's favorite is phoenix worms, with...
From my understanding phoenix worms are different from super worms. Phoenix's are soldier fly maggots, also known as "calciworms" due to their high calcium content.
Yea, I've tried shaking the cup to stir them up and get a couple flipping upside down, and nothing.. When I put them on the screen, which is his preferred method of eating crickets usually, he ate a few, but the others just ran to the bottom of the cage where my guy won't go to hunt.. That's...
Thanks for the advice.. That's what I was afraid of, because as of late, he's growing like crazy and his appetite has been enormous.. With that being said, I thought that would benefit with this method, and that he would choose his appetite over his stubborness and give in..
I'm at work...
I can't comment on the silkworms, but have you thought about trying Phoenix worms?? They're extremely high in calcium, and stay alive for quite sometime in a small cup that they are shipped in, and basically don't need to be gutloaded. Your cham will run through them FAST..At least mine is right...
Not sure if this method will work, but I recently purchased about 75 dubia roaches and 75 Phoenix Worms from online to switch up my 4 month old veilds' diet. He previously only ate crickets, and loves them.
Over the weekend, I introduced him to the Phoenix worms, he LOVED them. Ate about 12...
Ok, great. That's sort of what I was wondering, if it is something that could be used frequently, or if it should only be used twice a month.. Thanks for the reply
I actually JUST received my order of Phoenix worms. Literally. I won't get home til later to give them to Koopa -BUT- all things that I have read about phoenix worms are that they are very good for chams and they have an extremely high content of calcium (to the point where you don't even need...
I've done a lot of searching on this forum, and I haven't found a discussion regarding Repashy's Supervite. Does anybody use this as your multi for your cham? If so, how often do you dose? The reason I would like to initiate a discussion on this product, is because the label suggests you can...
Thank you. Will take advice. I think I'm going to add a branch running somewhat parellel to the UVB about 6-8 inches from the top of the cage. it'll be his highest highway. Thank you all for your feedback.
Yea like one other poster stated I'd go with the Reptisun 5.0 (tube bulb), and for the UVA that will be your basking bulb (typical house bulb is fine). And yea, your 87 degrease basking temp is good.
No he edited it and said parallel.. So which is it!? lol:confused:
I'm going to give him another branch today. Plan A is to have it be the highest horizontal branch he can crawl on, and it will be about 4-6 inches away from the UVB bulb, running parallel unless suggested otherwise by you more...
