When I first got my graceful (first chameleon ever) he didn't eat or appear to drink for the first week. I was frantic.
They just need time. I barely ever handle him. Usually only for cleaning the cage/trips to the vet for a checkup.
He's pretty chill -- doesn't puff up or hiss or bite...
I'm in the "chameleons are like fish" and meant to be observed and not touched camp. If you "must" handle your chameleon I think you should give it at least a month to acclimate to its new surroundings.
Many others handle their chameleons with great success but please don't try to force it...
And probably feel as relieved as my chameleon... Check out the size of this whopper!
It took him about a week and a half to create. I think my graceful's basking temps not being high enough caused this. I've got him up to 87 during the peak hours of the day now via the EcoZone auto control with...
THANKS!
That is a really awesome idea. I never thought of lighting that way.
Just to clarify - I was getting a fixture that has 6 lights total but they were divided among two switches. I still really like the idea of having so many lights but with heat being a concern in the room where I...
+1 more for Arcadia. You can check out the D3 bulbs for chams here http://www.arcadia-reptile.com/products/d3-reptile-t5-lamp-2/

Arcadia lights last for 12 months!
+1 more for Todd @ LightYourReptiles.com. Arcadia Reptile takes their lights very seriously and produce a great product - they last 12 months.
There's a chart on this page http://www.arcadia-reptile.com/products/d3-reptile-t5-lamp-2/ that shows how much UVB they output.
Errr... I meant that I ate the components of the gutload like kale, dandelion greens, mustard greens (whoa! awesome!), and collard greens...
I didn't eat the powder lol.
It makes an awesome salad!!! Thanks Sandra!
I think I could probably put the greens & the fruits into a blender and make a badass smoothie.
Anyone else ever eat their gutload? :D
I've been using zip ties and cutting the excess tie down to a nub. Is there a reason I shouldn't be doing this?
The nub that's left over doesn't scratch ME but I don't know if it would scratch through my cham. I doubt it... but am open to listening.
If it is a Japanese Maple, is it safe? It was hard to tell from the pics what kind of plant it is..

Hi All,
I started another thread about "Enough Light? ( https://www.chameleonforums.com/enough-light-89673)" and wanted to create a companion thread of Not Enough & Too Much to keep the topics separate. If there's a blog or a site that covers my questions, please let me know. I did read the...
Hi All,
I've read numerous posts with people offering their opinions (or maybe they were facts) on the amount of light to be provided to their chameleons.
I currently have a Deep Blue Solarxtreme Quad Bulb 24" fixture over my 2x2x4 cage. Only yesterday did I realize I'm a complete idiot for...
