Your going by sun light temp, like a basking spot not ambient temp. I was thinking along those lines since the sun light is alot warmer than ambient. Also, in regards to him coming to me, I offered a finger, but since it has only been a week, he is probably still a bit leary of me, though...
I was going to say cup feed him as well. Mine only took one cricket in front of me, and that was because it was on the plants where he was and he held it in his mouth til I left. I think he actually spit it out later, it may have been too big. I now hand pick smaller ones about the width of...
I've just started with chams, but I got Herpavite, you might use that as well. They use beta carotine to metabolize into vit a instead to avoid vit a overdose. I also use repitcalcium with d3. I realized yesterday that I should also have the without d3 as well for daily or almost daily feedings.
Do you all change your potting soil regularly for live plants? I read in a book, well that one at least, the author (Connie Dorval) suggested fake since the soil can harbor bacterial growth if not changed periodically. The other books I read from advanced vivarium systems said live plants.
I thought of this today...anyone ever feed their cham a stinkbug??? I gave my beardies them in the past, not often at all, but when I had one in my room and could get it in the cage I would sometimes.
Still a bit cool here in Pa to take mine out...then again, he still runs from me. Only had him for a bit over a week now, working on getting him to trust me, doesn't take off when I have food in my fingers or a dish in my hands, but just looks at it and me, doesn't feed til I leave the room.
Smaug, or wait, was that smaug the golden....or go with lord of the rings/hobbit/simarillion names....but Fingolfin is taken! I named my beardies Anduril and Narsil, was going to name my veiled either Glamdring (to keep with the sword names) but went with Fingolfin.
My little veiled sleeps in the plastic hanging plant I have in the corner. I take a throw pillow and prop in up near there at night to block the light by my bed and I angle the light down more (full spectrum light for fly tying I put by my bed when I got a new bed).
I got a small one of each ficus, pothos and schefflera at walmart. Now they are pretty small, since I was going to plant all in one pot then decided against it. I was going to put pothos and schefflera together and train the pothos to climb the branches in the cage but would take waaay too...
My sis bought a beardie that had mbd for practically nothing and still has it. Supplemented it well and is still kicking. Sorry to hear about the mbd, but it is cute. I wanted a panther, but got my veiled last weekend, was a real small show in hatfield pa. I kinda didn't want to wait til the...
Grats! I just got my veiled last week and still working on that...gonna take a while. Still pretty much hides from me, but eats, have yet to see him drink as well. Saw him nail a cricket once...eats while I'm at work or not in the room.
