I bought that one for my cage. I've only been using it for 2 weeks but so far I really like it. I bought it because I like the T5 plus I wanted something to support plant growth. Ive tried to do a planted tank with my frogs in the past with no success. My plants are still looking real good. The...
We have screen cage and had a real hard time with humidity. We ended up covering 3 sides with a shower curtain and we have a dripper that drips by his favorite spot along with a mister that mists him a few times a day. Humidity has been stable between 45-60%.
I notice that my guy will sit...
I wish I had some help for you, but we just got our first veiled a week ago so all of this is still new to me. I wonder if the big drops and raises in humidity is affecting him some how.
Hope you are able to find a vet and everything turns out okay.
I actually started my moths in a kids butterfly keeper. It's round and all mesh and about 2 feet tall. I put a tomato plant in it and a bowl of nectar. I hung it from the ceiling in the basement with a shower curtain around it because the only useful information I read was the moths are very...
Hornworm eggs can't be frozen. The moths lay their eggs everywhere you just pick them off and put them in your container. They are pretty hard, like those little white balls on candy and baked goods. If you use a tomato plant you want to pick them out before they hatch because once the worms...
I put my eggs in a plastic shoe box that I got from the dollar store. I cut a hole in the top of it and covered it with mesh for ventilation and I bought a roll of gutter guard from Menards so they can climb on it when they hatch. I had extra cups and chow that I got from Great Lakes Hornworm...
What's been working for me is I walk real slow towards his tank and talk to him. I keep my head down and not look at him much. I open his cage and the minute he starts to run and hide I step back, or turn my back to him and then he stops. I slowly reach in with the tongs and put his crickets on...
I did this last summer, it was so fun! Three times a day I was checking my plant and cage for eggs. Im going to try again now that the weather is getting nicer. We have to keep them in the basement and it's warm down there but not warm enough. Plus I need to get a proper light for the tomato plant.
We got our veiled on Friday and he is 2 months old. I know they drink their water off of the leafs in their tank but how much do they drink a day and how do we know they are getting enough water?
I want to see him and make sure he's okay but he's already found a great hiding spot that he already runs to when I get near him. I did notice today if I slowly go near his cage and don't look at him or if I sit with my back to him, he doesn't hide as much. Also today when he realized I had his...
I just got my 2 month old from FLChams too! We've been feeding him 1/4 inch crickets and find that letting a few roam around the cage as well as leaving some in a bowl helps. We've seen him eat quite a few crickets that have come close to him.
My guy is pretty skittish still and backs away...
You're welcome! I had success last summer with them and got about 100 eggs. I tried in the winter and only got one moth. I'm going to try again, hopefully the weather will warm up and stay warm.
I just used a small plastic cup and folded up some paper towel and put the hummingbird food in just so the towel was wet but not sopping. I changed the towel out every few days. Right after they turn into moths you may need to lead them to drink and unroll their antenna (?) into the water to...
I just got one from them on Friday! I received a notice from UPS letting me know it was shipped. Then received notice from UPS saying there was a delay and it would be delivered the next business day. Everything worked out though and he came on Friday.
They seem to respond faster by text than...
