May I ask where you got them? And how they work for you? I've got a 3 month old Sambava Panther. I've had him three days. So far he loves crickets and mealworms. He hand fed on day one. So far he seems like a great eater and not picky.. But I'd like to have a colony feeder other than these...
Hey everyone!
I live in Florida and just found out Dubias are illegal here!! I found a thread saying that Discoid Roaches are legal.. Does anyone use these for their Panthers? Especially anyone in Florida? I want to make sure I don't get arrested!!!
Are there any better suggestions...
I'm so glad I found this thread! I also live in Florida and want to start a roach colony. Crickets are such a mess.. I never knew they were illegal?!
I wonder about the green Cuban roach? Probably illegal too.. I'll check out the link you provided. Thank you!
I'm not a Meller expert, but I often saw my Jackson scratching his eye.. Sometimes it would swell up HUGE and I was like.. Omg, he's dying!! But then did research and found that this was actually fairly normal (as long as it wasn't too frequent and afterwards he looked fine again).
I think...
That's pretty incredible. So, science nerd alert, I have a biology degree and remember the definition of a species as being a group of indeviduals with a common genetic background that can reproduce and have fertile offspring. Now, some may say that "in the wild" these two would never...
I had two male Jacksons while in Hawaii, one Oahu lowland (I assume, I got him in Waimanalo from the guy with the chameleon sign off the highway lol) and one when I lived on Maui (which I collected off the side of the road upland).
The one from Oahu I got pretty young, 3-4 months old, and had...
So, I'm trying to make sure I am getting everything right:
No sitting water.
No "media" on bottom of enclosure.
No pesticides/chemicals.
What else?
I'm also trying to have all the do's covered: UVB basking area, cool spots, live plants, gut loaded insects, good variety, daily...
Here's another picture, you can start to see some of the bands, and how the horizontal body stripe is broken up. I wonder if these patterns and stripes remain fairly constant as males grown or not? I know the colors will change, but it looks like I can start to see the beginning of the "u"...
I used to be active here, but when I moved from Hawaii in 2013 I was forced to give away my Jacksons. But now, living in Florida, I've been bit by the Cham Bug again!
This time it's a Sambava Panther! I've always wanted one if these!
Any advice on switching to this species is greatly...
Oh no! This is what I was hoping to avoid! Everyone who posted something negative to this thread just lost out in helping this individual 1) preserve this Cham and 2) get another person interested in reptiles also interested in conservation!
I hope you do return and post again!

Where did you get him?
