My chameleon has been keeping his eyes closed most of today. He had vitamin A deficiency about 2 years ago but his vitamins have been switched and he's been fine since . He is 5 years old so he is on the older side. Is there anything it could be other then vitamin A deficiency

but I already got all the vitamins from the vet so I am going to switch to them.
My chameleon's previous vitamins didn't have vitamin A in them even though thats waht the reptile speciality store recomanded so I just wanted to share so people out there could check...
A couple weeks ago I was forced to take my 3 year old chameleon to the vet because hes been acting really sick. Turns out he had vitamin A deficiency despite of me making sure he gets his vitamins. So, in order to try to prevent such things happening to you pets I want to let you guys know that...
thank you everybody... i ordered some hornworms, silkworms and phoenix worms ( a small quantity of each too see what my chameleon likes since hes a spoiled little brat... which is probably my fault :P... oh well gotta love him anyways... lol
hopefully that will give him a little bit more...
This behavior is not that unusual... my chameleon use to chew on branches in his cage too...i was told that young chameleons sometimes do this for entrainment... and as he is getting older i noticed that he is doing it less and less...

other then silkworms what other food is good for a panther chameleon ( tired of feeding him crickets)

but true if it has negative traits it is a defect.... too bad because it looks rather interesting..( not suggesting that the looks of it outweigh the discomfort to the little chameleon ) hope he grows out of the " side...

defects and mutations aren't the same...
people need to realize that not all diffrences between animals are genetic defects( that word has a negative connotation) ... it can just be a mutation ( and no... not all mutations are bad.. they are part of evolution...blue eyes in humans for example are a mutation :P)... and the little...

my panther chameleon chews on his branches and the plastic leafs in his cage i know they sometimes lick branches to check if another chameleon is in the territory... is he biting them for the same reason or is there a different reason for this behavior?
