I don't have him yet, but since I work at the shop I feed him crickets and the CGD. I just started taking care of him last week though. Before that it was all of the staff feeding and cleaning out the tank. Also, I know for sure it is a male. He has mated with the other crested at the shop.
I would take out the waterfall if I were you. They are a breeding ground for bacteria, and it will make your chameleon sick if it drinks from it. As for the substrate, a lot of the people on here, myself included, don't use any substrate because it could impact your cham if it ingests it. Paper...
Hello,
I was thinking of building a glass terrarium for my crested gecko I will be getting for Christmas, and I was looking for ideas of how to go about it. They require taller rather than longer tanks like chameleons do, so I thought a few of you all might have some pretty awesome self built...
Thanks so much everyone for your kind words. I am sorry I haven't shared her too much with all of you lately. I am in my last year of college, and it has been really busy, but things are finally calming down.
It will be exactly one year since I've had her on November 30th. She is able to move...
I haven't posted anything about JoJo in a while... so here are some pictures from tonight!
Bored and unimpressed.
Looks like it was feeding time for the frogs as well! This is JARVIS, my oldest Whites Tree Frog.
Haha, thanks. My boss is pretty cool. However, I think that I'm only getting him because he bites and has been sitting on the shelf for over a year. I will really need to work with him to get him to like people again :)
We don't mean inexperienced in general, but the vet is clearly inexperienced with chameleons.
I'm not sure if you completely realize the seriousness of the situation. Your chameleon might not die tomorrow or even this month, but the illness that she has is causing her immense pain. Her legs...
I agree, that vet doesn't sound like the best. Surgery on egg bound chameleons is very common. At least she is getting calcium injections though. Let us know if she lays tomorrow.
That is MBD (metabolic bone disease). Although you need to find a reptile vet ASAP, you need to make the proper corrections right now. A previous post wrote out all of the corrections that you need to make in red. If you want her to live and not be deformed, you have to change some things now...
Hey guys,
My boss told me that she was going to give me this little guy as a Christmas gift! I won't be able to take him home until then, but I get to take care of him and play with him at the store. I think that he is a Harlequin morph, but what do you guys think? I'm also thinking of naming...
Could you fill this out please?
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are...
Hello,
I was wondering if it was possible to leave eggs that a cham has laid in the sand or whatever they laid them in or if you had to get them out? I'm sorry if this is an obvious question.
Hello everyone.
My area is about to get hit with a really bad snowstorm, and they are predicting power outages for several days after. I really have no idea what to do about heating for my reptiles. I've never had to deal with this problem before. In addition to my chameleon, I also have five...
Okay, this is awesome information! I'm glad that I decided to ask on here. So 50 is high? I felt like it might be. If I do decide to get some, I may order online. I don't know how old these guys are, and if they are a bit on the older side it would really suck if they died in a few months. Are...
Hello!
My local Petco just got in two tiny chameleons which they have labeled "dwarf stub tail chameleons" but they look exactly like pictures of Pygmy Chameleons that I have seen. Anyway, I sort of fell in love with them, and I might get them, but I just had a few questions.
1. They are...
Thanks for the kind words everyone! I hope that JoJo helps some people realize that they shouldn't just give up on an animal that clearly has the will to live :)
