Brad: thanks, Brad. The plant is a celosia plumosa. It is non toxic to dogs and cats and a different spices of celosia genus is on a safe plants for chameleons list so I figured he would be okay on this one for a bit
Shiva just finished a shed about a week ago, he's nearly 7 months now and today he enjoyed some time in the sun so we thought it was a perfect time for a photo shoot.
I understand about being paranoid about your female laying or becoming egg bound. I check her bin and plant everyday to make sure.
This might be a silly question, but is it really obvious that your female has been digging or buried eggs. Can they be incognito about it?
Thanks for the feedback. She does have a lay bin. While I have seen her explore the bottom of her cage a few times about a week ago, I've not seen her digging at all.
Your Chameleon - Panther, female, 6 months, we've had her for 3 months
Handling - We handle Kali about once a week.
Feeding - Crickets and horn worms, we gutload with a blend of mustard greens, water cress, bok choy, green beans, carrots, alfalfa sprouts, oranges, papaya, mango, fuji...
Here are a couple pictures of my 6 month old male and female ambilobes cages. The silver one is Shiva's and the black one is Kali's. Any feedback is appreciated and any questions i'll be glad to answer. The "external components" for each are largely the same but the internal foliage, branches...
We got some dubias the other day to see if Shiva and Kali would like them (they did, at least for today).
However, I've put some of the gutload blend that I feed the crickets and I haven't seen the dubia eat yet. Are they nocturnal eaters?
Thanks for this list. Would you say that you listed them in descending order of nutrition or is it random?
Also, do you have a recommended source for all things buggy or should I just shop around? In the past I have purchased insects with varying degrees of satisfaction from Mulberry farms...
Dubia's are certainly going to be next on the menu. Trying to decide where to order from as we don't want to start a whole colony until we know they like them. Any one know a reliable place in the Chicago area to pick some up? I looked on craigslist and the closest place is about 2 hours away...
We have a male and female panther who are about 6 months old. Right now our staple diet is gutloaded crickets. I want to make sure their diet is varied. Our female will eat almost anything except black soldier fly large (she loves silkies and hornworms).
Our male however is a bit more picky...
