This was essentially going to be what my post said. My male did the same thing. He mouthed most things in his enclosure when he was around 4-5 months old. He sure told them who was boss! He doesn't do this anymore. The most important thing is that there isn't anything inside his enclosure that...
It sounds cliche, but treasure the time they are little. Seeing the colors come in brighter with each shed is great but they are only babies for a little while. I still can't believe that our guys were so small looking back at pictures and they're not even a year old yet!
We've added a new chameleon to our family. We have named him Kaiju. Some of you may remember him as Fiji on the forums. Fellow member henry66 needed to find a home for him and it was the right time for us to add to our family. Even more fortunately, he lived in our area. He came home with us...
Ditto on this, We have 24" x 48" cages for our 2 (soon to be 3, little ones). While we want the very best in bulbs, can you used arcadia bulbs in other fixtures? I've seen a helpful thread on this by Lazy Boy recently, but when you have 3 cages, the cost gets up there.
Like you, chams helped me get over a bug phobia. Also, even though I've worked in the animal medical/care industry for over a decade now, my main experience has been with the furry ones. I was never afraid of other types of animals, just not drawn to them. Even once my husband brought up the...
As always, very good point, Jann. Thanks! Ill be getting a fecal/exam done for him ASAP but I want to be as proactive as possible in case it takes some time to get an appointment.
We may be bringing home a new cham next week and I've read through the quarantine thread, which was very helpful and we plan to follow, but we still had a couple questions.
Should we give him a precautionary dosing of panacur even if he's not showing typical signs of parasites, at least...
That sounds awesome. Growing fast, although I think your guy will be bigger unless shiva has a growth spurt. He's hovering right around 90g. It usually takes 1.5 days for him to shed too and sounds like he does the same thing as your guy except he goes on more of a hunger strike.
I think...
Shiva just finished a shed so wanted to share some pictures. Also, was at the vet today for a recheck for flaggelates, and he got a clean bill of health! One of the vet techs tried to "steal" him. I know I'm projecting but he does well with all the ladies fawning over him and calling him handsome.
So, our little Kali is pretty regular in her stool, but tonight I found a doozy. It was mostly regular aside from slight orange dehydration urates (Side note; we are trying to get humidity levels right since this recent drop in temperatures where we live, and increased heat usage. Showers are in...
So I have a dwarf umbrella plant in both cages for my chams. Nearly identical conditions for each plant but one is thriving and one is dying. Should I cut my losses and get a new one or is there something I can do to nurse it back to health? The only thing I can think of is the mister is less...
I have my male from Bruce at Chameleon Paradise. He's an ambilobe so I can't speak directly for his nosy falys but I can say that my experience with Chameleon Paradise as a breeder has been fantastic. He's always glad to take a phone call with questions and it's clear he loves his chameleons.
We had a rare warm and sunny day for fall today so we took advantage and got some rays. Kālī is 8 months old now and just as much of a spitfire. She wasn't too pleased about coming out of her enclosure, hence her dark colors. She's so pretty when she's angry!
