Misting?
How often do you mist? Water drippers are great for drinking but misting adds humidity and helps more with the process of keeping cham eyes clean. Chams will often start the eye cleaning process (popping the eye turret out and rotating the eye while the lid is shut) during misting...
While the full coloration does take well over a year to develop I have found pink or rose colors coming out on the baby Ankaramy at a very early age. It makes them look like they are "blushing". My babies did this as young as Kent's little babes. Having had the opportunity to have them in...
Forgot to say........
I forgot to say that I let that male "play" with his sister a couple of times. There is a picture of them together out on my patio in my forum gallery. One of my favorite pictures. I did not incubate the clutches that were laid as the result of this "play time". The...
Probably a Cross........
My WC Ankaramy females have mostly been on the small size. I have had a couple of large ones though. It sounds like your babies are an Ankaramy/Ambanja cross. Years ago I bought an Ankaramy/Nosy Be cross from a breeder friend. She had bought an entire clutch of what...
My guess........
I guess I got to this party a little late. I'll give my thoughts anyway. I was going to say Ankaramy. I've hatched and raised some Ankarmay and the males looked like these males do. Incredibly similar. I've got two clutches of Tamataves growing up now and the males look...
Thanks for update!
Thanks for the update Julie! I've heard about the foot powder remedy too. Never tried it though. It's good to hear a brand name and to hear that you just put it between the eggs and not on them and it still managed to kill the stuff on the eggs.
What a nice number of...
Congrats..........
Congrats on your new beauties! Another species I don't need to see, because now I want one.............UGGHH! I love the texture of the skin. The "scales" are so different from Panthers or Veileds. The close up picture at the bottom of your post shows what I'm talking...
Burp?
This is a new one for me too. I've never heard a sound like that before (from a chameleon anyway). The motion he made looks more like a burp than a cough. Not sure if chameleons can burp. Or perhaps he swallowed a cricket that was not crunched before it went down. I've often wondered...
Nice mouth on that boy :)
Your boy is showing off a nice mouth. He's either warm or pissed off at the camera and you. He looks healthy. Overheated chams often exhibit a lighter coloration because they are trying to reflect off the heat. They show dark coloration if they are cool and trying...
Good thread......
Sorry I missed your updated posts. For some reason I'm not getting email notifications regarding new posts on threads I'm subscribed to. My thoughts....
The runny poop can be due to increased water intake and/or the Metronidizole treatment. Antiparasite and antibiotic...
Congrats to you too :)
Congrats to you for your great new additions. You and Kent obviously scored big time. Good things come to people with a good reputation and lots of experience :) Can't wait to hear that you guys are actually breeding. Maybe one day you guys will let me join the secret...
Wishing you the best!
I'm sending you and your new charges my best wishes for a happy and healthy future. They have certainly gone to a worthy home! That species is such a big responsibility. Can't wait to see pictures later as you get them tuned up and settled in :)
What goes on top?
The interior furnishings look great. Plenty of walkways and your potted plant looks great. I would put a plant tray under it though so it doesn't leak all over when you water it. Great plant foliage for drinking. What do you have in the way of UVB and basking lights?
Jealous........
You've already gotten the good advise you need. The only other thing I can add is that I'm jealous of your opportunity to get those babes! Let us know what happens. You will find a lot of Melleri enthusiasts here to share with.
Got to have a picture.........
We have to have a picture to give it a proper name.......You can check out my Crestie Album within my profile section. I've got all my breeders in there. My names often reflect coloration or patterns. I have a female named Brocadia who looks like an expensive...
Sounds like overheating........
It sounds like he was overheated a bit. To make sure keep looking at his mouth for signs of mucus. Or look for foamy bubbly stuff when he drinks from foliage.
I've felt and heard a slight noise from male Veileds. It seems like an internal vibration they can...
Nice :)
Nice chams and nice tree blossoms. This is my favorite time of year. I had a few days where I could take some things outside too. Tommy does look a bit scared. Amy looks confident and brave. GIRLS ROCK! Isn't Spring wonderful?
Nice pictures Kent!
A whole other obsession aren't they? I've just got the Cresties right now. I'm going to be getting a couple of groups of Uroplatus later this year. Still figuring out which two of the species I want to play with. I know it will be harder to work with them than it has...
What a battle.........
Wow.....that is quite a battle you and Bert have had going on there......Where any cultures done on the tail?
One of my WC Melleri, Knopfler (named after Dire Straits Mark Knopfler) had an infection on the last inch of his tail. It has long since healed and he didn't...
