Fun group!
It's nice to see everyone chime in! Especially Mr. Royden. We miss you on this forum! And Jeff, if you do want a Veiled............I've got some very studly sub-adults from the famous Otto (Royden's Avatar). They started hatching the day I had my open house last August. They...
Such a sad ending........
I am so sorry for your loss. Despite you efforts at rehydration and feeding there may have been some things going on inside his body that we could not see. Parasites can actually perforate through the stomach and intestines. Internal infections can become septic (in...
Gig Harbor :)
I'm in Gig Harbor, Washington. There are quite a few of us Washington state people here. What do you keep?
I'm slow...must be the rain soaked brain....it says you have a male Ambilobe in your signature line.....
More comments.......
About how many inches from snout to vent is your Melleri? Do you have any way of weighing it in grams? That would really help us figure out how big it is. Did the vet weigh it? You can call their office and find out the results if they did (and they should have). I may...
Not Good at all...........
Hi there...I'm sure other Melleri keepers will see this later. I keep a group of WC Melleri and have gone through the acclimation process.
First of all, the animal is severely dehydrated. One look at the head with sunken casque and eyes says a lot. You need to...
Nice!
Nice pictures......It is amazing how different clutch mates can look. A lot of people assume that male clutch mates will look similar and look like the parents. Once you get your first clutch growing up you realize that there is a wide pool of genetics in a clutch to draw coloration...
Wow........
Wow she is a tank! I agree with Julie........that looks like a normal "ding". Chams often get little dings or bruises from normal activity. It would merit watching if it was bigger. Think of the little scratches and bruises we get as people from daily life........same thing for...
Name of Ointment?
What is the name of the Ointment? Terramycin is a good antibiotic ointment made for the eye. It's available over the counter. I've used it for minor irritations. I would not put any ointment in the eyes unless it is made for reptiles and made for the eyes. Human saline...
Congrats :)
Nothing like your first clutch of babies. Be prepared to get nothing else done....you can spend a lot of time watching them! What are you housing it in?
Silkworm Moths......
Mine took longer than that. I just kept them in a container with holes for air on a room temperature shelf. Only about half of my chams would eat them. I have a bunch of juvie chams and they, in particular, seemed to be afraid of them. Just be patient. The moths will...
Non-toxic solution......
I'm always looking for non-toxic solutions to problems because of all the cats we have. They sniff everything. For food eating ants you can use a mixture of sugar and Borax (old time laundry powder available at Target, etc.) Put just a little of the mixture on...
Pictures please.........
I am also concerned about the amount of D3 supplementation. I'm also really concerned about your use of a Mercury vapor light for a three month old panther. Mercury vapor lights are normally only used for VERY large enclosures. I use them on adult iguana cages and...
Cup Feed!
There is another good reason to cup feed. Those roach dudes are sneaky. They will move into a plant pot and live undetected for quite a while. It will be warm enough for them and they will have access to food (plants, cham poop and perhaps the cham) and water. They come out at...
Comments.........
A couple of things........That solar glo 125 watt mercury vapor light is pretty powerful. I would not use a product like that without a UVB meter. I'm also wondering how much heat it's putting out. Can we get a picture of you cage set up and the cham? What is your highest...
Very cute......
Marley is very cute. Love the yellow eye turrets. Yes, the weather here in the Pacific NW is similar to yours. I noticed you have brick which is a great heat keeper. I also put my chams on my concrete patio next to the brick house which boosts the temperature up quite a bit...
Keep us posted.........
Please keep us posted about his eating. In my experience chams that young maybe skip one day of eating because of a shed. Their bodies are growing so fast (hence the need to shed) that they are always hungry. I'm more inclined to think it's the change of food source...
Questions....
I think we need to get more information on your cham and set up. Please visit the thread in the Health Clinic forum (where you posted this thread) on "How to ask for Help".
You comment that you were feeding her dusted calcium crickets when you fed her. That is way too much...
Super cute........
Your little one is super cute. Has a healthy looking body and form.
I would recommend getting some big bushy live plants like Schefflera and/or Pothos. Your fake foliage does not increase humidity at all and it is not enough foliage for drinking possibilities. Real...
