I wouldn't call those bars purple ... more of a red, with such brilliant blue lights that meld into a rich violet at a distance!
Gorgeous, at _any_ distance!

Very saddened to hear that, SoCal ... They're a lot more than "just a lizard", aren't they?
I hope you find the answers you seek . . . and a place for another chameleon!
At the very least, I think we can say that "My chameleon feels comfortable enough with my presence to climb out . . . "
My two hide behind their perches and/or shake like leaves when I put my hand into their cages, though they will express an interest if that hand is holding their feeder cups...
Welcome, SoCal Soldier!
Not local to you, so can't help with worms (or other feeders - they like a bit of variety), but just wanted to say hi ...
I find that my veileds will wander down into their plants to the same sleeping spots every evening, and when they do, I know I might as well...
I don't know whether either of my chameleons have eaten any of the larvae or pupae in the cup I bought from Petco - but there were scary-looking soldier flies (they mimic wasps) in the cup, and the chams enjoyed taking shots at flying prey!
I suspect the flies aren't as nutritious as the...
Boomer (and a few others . . . ) has really opened my eyes to something. I've been thinking about adding a panther (or three. Or seven . . . ) to the chameleon group here, and had been looking at Ambilobes, at Nosy Bes - - but there's a new word in my vocabulary, and it's "Ambanja". I like the...
Realkoi, they're beautiful, but I sense confusion ...
When you wrote "Avatar" in your original post, were you referring to your new chameleon's name? I think Carol may be looking at the cham _in_ your avatar, which doesn't look Nosy Be . . .
(I think "Avatar" is a terrific name for a Nosy...
That's a pretty cool film!
I've seen very few documentaries where the colors seem as rich as they do in life (Panther chameleons are nature's stoplights, LOL!), and where the images are so clear you can watch the mites crawling around the snakes' eye-scales.
Wait . . .
Did I really...
I could see some vitamins degrading over time, but minerals? Calcium's pretty stable stuff, IIRC.
Was the person who told you to replace them hoping to sell you new bottles?
(I know that at the rate I use dust on bugs for two smallish young veileds, I'd be tossing nearly full canisters of...
Crickets (of appropriate sizes...) various species of roaches, superworms, phoenix/repti/calciworms, hornworms (again, of appropriate size - they grow fast!), silkworms ... If it's moving, they may have a go at eating it. (With the calci-worms, my gang don't so much go for the worms themselves...
I knew the label on that one wasn't lateralis, but couldn't remember what it _was_ - until Chameleon Forums changed the photo on their Facebook page!
Furcifer campani. When I saw it, it looked just like the cover photo on the Chameleon Forums facebook page, but instead of shades of green, it...
The worm's idea of a great day is _not_ one on which it gets eaten by a chameleon. If having a strong grip on its branch prevents that, it'll hold on (literally!) for dear life!

Lime green to near-black, brilliant yellows and startling blues . . . and a name that brings back fond memories...
No wonder he struts it so confidently!

We brought home a _lot_ of bugs ... crix, superworms, roaches & hornworms, my son picked up a couple of bearded dragons, and I found a little male (half her size) veiled as a hopeful someday mate for Princess Jasmine.
His personality will determine whether he wears the name of Aladdin or...
My son and I are planning to be there!
Just one cham her for now, and she's a veiled, but I'll for sure be looking at every lizard with a curly tail and mitten-shaped hands! Might pick up a few bugs, some supplements ... maybe a boyfriend for Princess Jasmine, if the bug bites hard.
I'd...
