I have all 3 and out of the three i love the panthers the best, by far! Jacksons would be second, just make sure theyre CB. the veiled would be the cheapest, unless you got a trans. I recommend them all, but if you have to pick one, go for the panther!
set up for all 3 would be the same...
thanks for the link, i'm going to keep looking. my husband and i argue about this from time to time, i believe that this is primarily because he is blinded by the previously acceped ways of doing things and not normally wanting to try new things.
to answer some of the previously unanswered...
So I've been batting this idea around for a while, i used to keep a saltwater reef tank which required UVB lights, so i got these really cool LED panel fixtures. i have since taken down the reeftank and now have $2K worth of UVB emmiting LEDs collecting dust in the garage, and was wondering if...
yup, i was one of those unlucky ones, i blinded some 30 hatchlings before we realized what was wrong. since then, we just switched off coils and only use linear bulbs.
i used this have this prob big time! i have a 10 y/o and a 4 y/o that try really hard to help care for the animals, but in the prosess we ended up with more crickets loose in the house than in the cham cages. the last straw was when one of them bit my 4y/o while asleep in her bed! since then...
hard to say w/ chams just based on size, ive seen some grow really quick, and others grow really slow, i had 2 chams from the same clutch hatch within days of eachother, both were 4.5 months old, the female is 3-4 in long, the male is pushing 6, then we moved the females cage to the other side...
i make dubi cookies... (i mean cookies for my dubia) i make a pretty nasty smoothie out of colorful fruits and veggies
( i dont use a set recipe, just what ever i have on hand, it's different every time) and freeze, then as needed, i break off a chunk and thaw then mash in as much gut load as...
maybe he's hungry? try misting w/ a spray bottle. i go through the herd once or twice a day and spray w/ a bottle, some of them come running and drink straight from the nozzel.
if you know its going to get crazy in there add alot of extra foliage, if he seems to be freaking out, just cover the cage with a sheet. i baby sit a bit and when when the kids come over, i just cover my cham wall w/ a tarp. that way its out of site, out of mind on both sides, youre guests...
Wow, he looks great! My chams names all relate back to their color or locale, I have a 1.0 ambilobe thats super blue, so we names him smurf, I have a group of sambavas that we names Sammy, Samantha, samster, and Samuel. My daughter named her veileds rapunzel, Flynn Ryder, and pascel. My...
Try throwing in some extra foliage for her, if that doesn't help, water her well, then provide a lay box and introduce her to it. Then cover her cage and turn off the misters for 24-48 hours. Good luck!
IMO, you should look for a cb Hawaiian Jackson. They're super tolerant, and really easy going. I hope to have a new clutch this August. I know suntan reptiles in Arizona has w/c. The Hawaiian ones are harder to find, but well worth the effort!
Be careful, I housed a pair of hatchling veilds together, when I separated them 4 months later, the female got depressed and totally stressed out, but when I tried putting them back together, after only a week, he tried to kill her. she ended up lasting about a month, needing daily force...
Lol, it was supposed to be just one Cham, now there are so many that they have taken over our dining room, we eat dinner sitting at the coffee table on the floor in the living room. It's not just a hoby, It's a way of life!
Try a chameleon condo. Our veilds like ALOT of of cover. I noticed that they stay closer to the ground just so they can hide better. I'm hoping to find them some nice full hibiscus plants this spring, they're perfect for veilds because they grow in nice and full and they're edible!
I've got 4, 1.0 Citris tiger, 1.0 trans fire tiger, 1.0 lucy leather 0.1 Lucy smooth. We got a drag a long from greathouse, and take our biggest beardie for a walk in the park.
