omg! you should turn that into a childrens book! i'm not kidding! long before we had chams, my son's favorite book was (and still is) Chameleon, Chameleon, by Joy Cowley. A true must have for all Cham families w/ kids! it's kind of like your story, you seriously need to publish this! Good luck!
i used to be a huge incubator fan, but my new reptipro that i just bought in April crapped out 3 months ago. i believe all 247 eggs are no longer viable. since it can get really cold in canada, i would recomend a large cooler, kept in a warmer room in the house, upper 60s-low 70s would be...
infertile eggs happen, it's best to remove the egg and as much of the surrounding substrate w/o disturbing the other eggs. i've been told that good eggs actually have a protectant in them that prevents mold from growing on healthy eggs, i've also been told not to throw out an egg unless it...
i would flush it w/ saline, a small dab of triple antibiotic ointment (like neosporin) would be good. it could be a cricket bite, they are aweful creatures! maybe a fight? i've seen some of my baby chams get pretty ticked when they get climbed on. idk if they could ever break eachothers...
we're still incubating eggs, but i've been told by other breeders that if you breed visual to visual, all babies come out visual, possibly w/ higher white than the parents, iv've been told that visual to non visual makes 50/50 and the 50% that are visual will have less white. I'm sitting on 8...
wow, i totally didn't see that link, thanks for pointing it out! i guess those lights will just have to wait until i set the tank back up again! I've been putting it off because i had hoped to be able to use these lights on the chams, but since we're not doing that, maybe i can...
sure, anything gut crickets and mealworms! butterworms are fatty, but thats kind of like saying that if a kid looks skinny you should load it up on candy and cake! try roaches, they're great! way more well balanced nutrition!
stay away from spinach and broccoli too! we have 4 beardies, they're like the puppies of the reptile world! We even found these super cute harness made by Beths kids at Greathouse Farm! they have beautiful beardies and the harness can be special ordered to match just about anything!
OMG crested geckos! they're awesome! they don't need heat or light, just a little bit of humidity and powdered food you can store in the fridge. you only feed them every 2-3 days! it's like a cakewalk after keeping chams!!!!!!
my son loves mantids! he's got 12 different species. he cleared out 1/4 of his room and dedicated it to raising and breeding, he's getting pretty good! we've even been subletting a section of our booth to him so he can sell nymphs. not bad for a 10 y/o! we just found him a pair of thistles...
i like sand because i think it's cleaner, potting soil can contain all kinds od dirty things, play sand works well, it's easy to gage, and easy to work with. cover her cage with a bed sheet and turn her misters off, then peek in on her quietly 2x a day and only water her if she's not in the lay...
