Agreed. Beared pygmy chameleons, R. brevicaudatus, are best suited for "beginners". They seem to be more durable, in the sense they can handle husbandry infractions better then other species.
I don't know what that is. All I can give you is that I had the exact same issue with a WC Ch. gracilis a few years back; when I was still a beginner hobbyist.
Also, I'd have to agree with Jannb. Get it checked out. Never hurts to be too careful.
