    Why chameleons make good pets

I'm a parent, knowing how much you have to learn and do to keep a chameleon, and how those skills will serve you in the future is going to make a difference. Of course, this is dependent on you doing the work. It's possible Dad is reluctant because he thinks it will fall to him and it's not...

Help with names for my girls!

Shed pics are the best....has that been a contest theme? It should be. Chantilly and Chausie (they're cat breeds....your girls are Panthers). Just a thought.

    Why chameleons make good pets

purplebiotch, you should show your father how much you have to learn to be a good chameleon owner. They aren't like dogs where you open the bag and feed the food. You have to know the nutritional information of your feeders and the food you feed your feeders. You need to know about humidity...

My guy has learned to drink from his spray bottle!

Be careful! It's possible to spray right back to their lungs, so be very gentle.

    what is this?

I agree it's a burn. I suspect that the "bowing" is a camera angle thing, it only seems to show in the first picture.

Being a vet is hard sometimes...

Second attempt, perhaps I'll be proper this time... There's a saying in advertising: for every letter or card you get, 100 people feel the same way. So think of that card as a whole lot of grateful people telling you how much they appreciate what you've done for their beloved pets...

Do you ever feel like quitting?

Thanks! No, it doesn't help knowing it's coming. I'm really going to take my time and get a better set up in place before I buy another animal though.

I seriously need help from someone!

It would be helpful if you completed the "how to ask for help" form. Just click this link: https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/ and copy the questions, put them in a post and insert your information. I will note that when they feel cold, chameleons will turn dark to try to...

Do you ever feel like quitting?

This has been a good thread for me because I've been waiting out a chameleon I knew was dying. He finally did die today and part of me thinks "Just be done with it, don't try anymore"....but the obsessive part of me says I've learned so much, I know how to make it better, so I should try...

    Meat thermometer...

Solid Snake provided your answer.... There are temperature probes you can leave in the meat during cooking. They are very clear about that in the packaging. If there is any doubt, then consider it a thermometer which cannot be left in the oven. I found that my "leave in" probe was far less...

My Petsitter and her son need your thoughts and prayers

I think getting him out of the hospital is the best thing they can do. I understand that it's going to be hard on the family, but hospitals are not a path to wellness....so, Ryan going home will be a good thing. He's breathing on his own. There's hope.

What to do if you leaving for a few days..

It really depends on a lot of variables. Is this an adult chameleon? If so, it can do fine without food for a few days. If it's a juvenile (noting the "big boy cage" comment) you can , as Jann suggests, have a friend or neighbor come by and toss food in. If you cup feed, you can put enough...
