Chameleon's are territorial, solitary reptiles. They don't enjoy being handled, so the less the better. Only cleaning, vet, and switching from inside to outside is really the only time the cham should be out.
Cut out the romaine lettuce and gutload your feeders with collard, kale, or mustard...
Your care sheet is very wrong. You are over doing the supplements. multivitamins are once to twice a month max. Calcium w/o d3 twice a month. Calcium with d3 almost every day but i would back off on the d3 since he is so loaded with it.
Probly not a wise choice seeing how your probably catching the ants in the wild. You don't wanna give your cham a pesticide infected ant now do you? Get some small to medium sized crix and some small silkworms. Your cham will love them.
Def sounds like a hunger strike. Offer him something besides crix. These reptiles eat over 40 types of insects in the wild. Imagine if you had to eat chicken cordon bleu every night for the rest of your life. Id go insane.
Try superworms, silkworms or hornworms. This is one reason why you...
If you have been using towels to catch the water you probly have a nice case of mold growing. Your cage needs to dry out between mistings. I drilled a few holes in the bottom of my cage, then I got two cinder blocks and spaced them out on my table so there was room in between (for the drip pan)...
I wouldn't say your paranoid but cautious, yes. There is nothing wrong with being cautious, especially for such delicate creatures. You need to have the humidifier on a timer. Lets say 4 times a day for 2 minutes. Something like that.
You would only have a mold problem if the cage was...
Yes, you can definitely over humidify but you would need a cool mist humidifier running pretty much constantly for that to happen. You wont over humidify by hand misting. If you don't have a dripper, misting 3x a day for a couple minutes should suffice. Just make sure the cage drys out between...
Did your re-pot your plant with organic soil when you purchased it? I don't think those are good for a cham especially if they feed on fertilized soil.
Nothing is impossible. Give your cham a nice meal before you take him out, and go underneath him, not over the top. They think your hand is a predator.
I didn't see anyone mention supplements. Your cham needs calcium WITHOUT d3 everyday. Calcium WITH d3 twice a month and a multivitamin once or twice a month.
You may also want to install a drip system so your cham can have plenty of access to water.
It is not normal for a cham to be...
