Def dont mount it on the side. Put it on top as close to the basking spot as possible. Chams absorb majority of their uv and heat from their back, not there side.
I dont believe an 18" fixture will fit an 18" bulb. I believe a 20" fixture fits an 18" bulb. At least thats what I had to do.
Calm down guy. Im not out to get you here and you seem to be getting a little excited. This is just a message board. The only thing I wasn't sure about was if the new cfl bulbs were completely safe for chams yet. They say they have fixed them but they have not been out long enough and I have yet...
That is true. With temps like that, I think a panther or veiled can thrive in Florida without any problems. (Of course not 12 hours of direct sunlight though. Way to hot no matter what.) As long as they are in the shade most of the day, they should thrive. My juvenile panther did.
Try putting a real plant in there like a ficus or hibiscus is even better for veiled's because they like to munch on them. It will also help with the humidity.. looks kinda dry in there. You don't need substrate. You risk mold and mildew which in turn can cause some URI. Change the uvb to a...

- Good luck

Wow. Every post I read from you, I learn something new. You said it all man.
