Another great idea! We had an infestation of some kind of moth last year when we left a bag of dog food in the carport, and it was a not fun. So, I totally understand the pain, and definitely don't want to go through that again! Sounds like I need to make a trip to get another Tupperware container.
Found some! I ended up calling the tiny feed store where my parents live and they had one bag of wheat bran left. My folks are gonna bring it with them next time they come to town. Go figure!
OK, this is a total newbie question, so please be gentle...I'm wanting to find a less-expensive alternative to buying superworm/mealworm bedding every time I need it. I've read post after post about buying wheat and/or oat bran from feed stores and making your own. Here's the thing: none of the...
Awesome, thanks! The ones I have aren't glued, so I'm hoping they turn out OK. I've seen posts that say it doesn't really matter, but other posts say it's best if they are glued. Maybe this will be a good definitive experiment!
Congrats! And I really appreciate the pic. I've got some eggs in a dish right now and was wondering how big they'd be when they hatched and what they would look like.
Did you glue your eggs down or leave them loose in the dish?
I just ordered mine as well. Todd was extremely helpful and definitely gave me the info I needed.
Not sure about you, but I'm stoked and can't wait for the delivery!
I did the same thing after fruitless searches for live silkworms. Figured I could do it myself and have a new project! As an FYI: Mulberry has eggs right now, but not live worms, at least when I looked.
How many are you feeding? Seems I have the exact opposite problem: my feeders get too big, but I also like breeding/growing my own. Too much for one cham, but it's still fun though!
I had a place ship small crickets with half a potato and more than half showed up dead because of the "boulder of death." I have a favorite for sure, but they've been out for a bit, unfortunately. Regardless, online is definitely better than the store from my experience!
That's great news. I was thinking they'd start dying off! I'll keep them for as long as I can then. Thanks!
Next time you're this way, let me know. I don't think my boy could eat as many as I have right now, so I'll definitely pass some along.
Great idea, thanks Jann!
Chief, if you're gonna be in the Germantown area anytime soon, let me know and you can have them, no trade needed. I honestly don't want them to go to waste and I would hate to ship them in this heat. PM me and let me know.
Like the title says, I have a bunch of superworms (350+) that are too big to feed my juvenile veiled and I'm not sure what to do with them now. I'd rather not start another project, so pupating is out. Any suggestions?
At least he is getting the best care possible. Hopefully he'll make a full recovery soon.
And thanks! We're on vacation this week, so have someone watching my boy. A little nervous, but I trust her, so not too worried.
Keep us posted on Stanley.
