For the past week, I have been disconnecting the Mistking and dripper and basking light at night, and carrying Piko in her cage to the bathtub. It's been so cold that I didn't want to leave her outside.
Checking the temps on my iPad just now before heading home, and was so happy to see that it...
I keep mine in a largeish black container I bought from the Container store. Because it lives by the patio door, a cold breeze is always blowing through the holes I drilled. So I bought them a Flex tape mat which i stuck under the top 25% of the bin. I wish I had bought a bigger one now! They...
You're right. The ceramic bulb didn't heat the outside as well as the basking bulb, so i changed the bulb out so there were two of them. Seemed to work well. Today, however, as it is cold and raining, Piko is shut in the bathroom with the light on and her dripper. I hope she's not too unhappy as...
So, she's back in the bathroom on a branch in a bucket, fast asleep. I hope she's going to do OK this week. It was sunny today, but not very warm, so I put the basking light on and a heat lamp, which I had initially bought as a spare.
She did eat, spent most of the day turning this way and...
This is unusual but it's going to be 41 degrees tonight and all this week!
My little female Jackson lives outside, and I did get her a ceramic heat bulb for the night time recently. But, I don't think that's going to be enough this week.
I can put her in the bathroom for the night, but don't...
I brought mine inside as I want them to breed. They're still near the patio door though, so it's not that warm. Bought a flex wire blanket and placed that under the rubbermaid box in one corner. Put a big piece of cardboard between tape mat and carpet. Put eggcrates in that corner too. The temp...
Thanks Jan! I thought they looked familiar! 2 down, 10 to go. Yes, I'm sure some have no names, but I'd like to add them if they do. I love the last pic with the ltlle red nose, so funny! I thought her name was Miss Lily, then realizes that was her mum's name!
I love it. All the photos are so beautiful, and I can't wait to hang it. I told Piko, this is what I want you tomaim for next year!
One tiny question though. Do you have names for the chameleons that are in the calendar? I saw the owners names on the back page. I would like to add the names to...
She looks really healthy now. What bright eyes she has! She also looks stubborn enough to, as you say, do whatever she wants!
I keep my female Jacksons outside too, and have been nervous about critters coming round. I haven't seen any rats, although I know there are plenty of fruit rats that...
After a good shower, see if you can find her something more nutritious and yummier than mealworms and crickets. My Jackson gets bored really easily with her food, and likes a variety of different foods. ( don't we all!)
See if you can get her some dubia roaches which are quite easy to take care...
I was watching Piko yesterday, and was puzzled why she'd gone down to the lowest branch of her plant, away from the basking light. There was no food wandering around, so I kept an eye on her. Hours went by it seems, while i did other stuff and then would check on her periodically. She was just...
I was just wondering how old female Jackson's are before slugs appear. There's not much in the caresheets about it, and after littleleaf's trauma recently, I just want to be prepared!
Thanks
I'm so grateful to you all as well. I read the forums for a couple of months before I got my jackson's. To be honest, I read up on chameleons in the hope that it would put me off getting one, but instead i learned so much!
I still have a lot to learn,,and I've only had Piko a few months, but I...
I had two superworms accidentally turn into these black, shiny beetles. They just appeared out of a grapevine one day. Piko wouldn't eat them, and when I grabbed one to throw it over the patio fence, my hand smelled of gasoline...eewww!
