OK, I am SO starting an isopod colony tomorrow. One thing I didn't see in any of the literature, though, is how long do I need to let them reproduce before they're safe to feed?
Whichever you call it, are they edible for chams? I have a bunch in my yard (where NO pesticides are used) and sure would like to make good use of them...
On a side note, I bet that's the very Sambava I was eyeballing on their site a couple weeks ago!
He's a cutie. I hope he settles in and starts eating better for you soon!
It looks fantastic!!!! This is exactly what I envision when I think about the enclosure I eventually want to build for my little guy. Of course envisioning and getting it to turn out as planned are two completely different things!
GREAT JOB!!!! :)
So I got the cham a little earlier than I was expecting. Here's how his enclosure turned out after I scrambled to finish it! Does it look ok? Any glaring problems?
The heat bulb I'm worried is not warm enough. The thermometer reads 85 at the basking area, but I'm not convinced it actually...
Silly question, but I'm trying to pick up bits and pieces here and there. The numbers in everyone's signatures (i.e. 3.2), is that males/females?
Thanks!!!! There were a couple on that list I've never even heard of. :p I've looked over some of sandrachameleons blogs- holy crap that's a lot of info! I'll need to absorb that slowly. lol
OK, first-time cham owner here, and I came home kind of unexpectedly with a 4-6 mo old Panther today (wasn't TOTALLY prepared for him yet, just happened to be in the right place at the right time). I bought a box of small crickets to hold him over the next day or two. I am getting ready to order...
Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean! LOL :D:p
The other pics I have aren't as clear. I'll take some more later when I get him settled. Do you think he's something else? Or a mix? I was quite surprised when I got him home and he went almost completely orange!! I am VERY curious...
I was thinking that, too. I misted him as soon as we got home. I'm still putting his cage together right now (I wasn't expecting to actually find one at the show), so he'll be all settled in very soon. Also, gonna try to get him into the exotics vet in the next few days for his general check-up.
I've been researching Panther chameleons and breeders for over a month now, and gathering supplies bit by bit. I went to the Exotic Animal Expo in Noblesville, IN today to see if I could get the last couple of things cheaper than around here. I had previously looked at the info on the vendors...
