This vet I went to is not a herpatologist but said that she could do the test. We dont have a choice of herp vets here in Baton Rouge so I went to the one I take my cats to.
Ataraxia,
The recepcionist said "It takes about ten minutes" I wasnt timing it. How long should it be? This is my first experience with it..So I dont know...The lady that did the test said the specimen was ideal for the test and the test showed "clear" results.
Trace I didnt see your last post till I was already showering the Cham. She immediatly turned a lighter healthier shade of green and actually gulped a little water. I was a little concerned because our city water has a lot of clorine. I have been using reverse osmosis and distilled bottled water...
State of the art hydrotherapy. Ceilia's first shower. Water temp 90f at nozzle 85f at ceilia's perch. Shower on low for 25 mins. 30 minute sitting in tub on perch with water turned off. Room temp 80 degrees.
Thanks to Trace and Sohumvet! She looked contented and serene while taking...
She seems healthier every day Trace. She closed her eye as I snapped the pic . She sees fine I think. And she varies her camouflage pattern quite often according to mood. Im trying to get a pic of the sick one to upload but it wont work. She looks so weak im debating putting her in the shower...
Thanks Trace, Sohumvet
It is definately Trioceros Christatus
My only available option in the near term is to increase the sick females exposure to moisture. Ill run the humidifier wide open. And increase misting. The drip is full time. What does lightly shower mean? Is it longer duration...
thanks

update
The test took ten minutes. The fecal tested from the oldest captive female tested clean. I even mentioned to them the types you suggested they check for (coccicidia and giardia). Unfortunately the female tested is the one that is feeding and seems in the best health. I still dont have a...
Ill drop off the sample at the Vet this afternoon.
Im really infatuated with the idea of caring for and enjoying Cresteds and would like to see them reproduce. Due to their delicate nature however , it looks as tho ill have to get informed on how to deal with whatever it is that is taking...
Im thinking along those same lines . It is probably internal parasites. Both males died before I could get a fecal sample. I did get a fecal sample from the oldest captive female (she seems reasonably healthy and is actually feeding) and will get it to my vet. The other female hasent even made a...
I have lost due to sickness two of four Crested Chams. In the first pair both were sickly and the male wasted and died at 1 week The female is doing much better but was lethargic for the first week or so. The second pair was even worse the male died this morning after only 3 days. The second...
