I got my little Cleopatra from FL Chams and I think the whole process was really smooth. I can't say anything bad about them. She was even shipped out mid December which had me nervous but they reassured me things would be fine and they were so they have to have a good reason for doing what...
I look at the classifieds on this website first. Usually there are a lot of members selling off some of their extra dubias, that is where I got rid of my excess ones, to DeviousMike even :)
I had the same reaction from my chams too. I used to get Samson to eat dubias, for a period of time...
This cricket has too much powder on it "ghosting" is the common term.
Here is what I try to get my crickets to look like when I dust them.
Hope that helps some man.
Midwest is the best! You are lucky though, this past Sunday us in Central Wisco got hit with like 10" of ice and snow. Just the other day I was outside having a cig and saw most of the snow was gone from my yard. I was thinking within the next 2 days I might be able to take my chams out for...
If the lighting never changed, I assume the bulb itself did. After 4-8 months, most brands of UB bulbs stop producing adequate amounts of proper light and need to be swapped out.
Bump an old thread for curiosity.
I just tried my hand at some silky cocoons, 5 mins ago I stared down in there to see a white moth looking back at me! Sweet but do I have to feed this guy anything?
I read they just reproduce the die, if this is the case then I don't need to worry about...
Cleopatra on the other hand is not a wuss and I bet she could totally whoops Samson in a fight. Here is my fiesty 7 month old Ambanja weighing in at 26g, look at how she put her game face on for the camera. She's the greatest pet ever
Hey everybody, I had today off so I thought I would show some chameleon love to all you guys. So up first I'll post some of Samson, he is a 14 month old Sambava. I love his yellow belly so much, it suits his personality because he is a totally tame wuss.
Yeah wait until his next poo before you try any vent. Mine had a stuck plug that I misted and he couldn't drag it off either. but the next time he went the thing came off with it.
In response to his bed time, it is very normal for chams to get ready for bed early and wait it out. Mine generally is in his sleeping area 30-1 hr at most before lights out.
There have been a few posts regarding urates becoming very orange from the urate itself being in the body too long...
Yeah you should be fine with the nighttime temps. I live in central Wisconsin and this winter was cold! My room never got below 60 though at night so I never worried about night heat.
A vet I spoke to about my husbandry back when I got my first cham had said that night time drops in temp...
I wonder if he was tricked because everything on the end of those feeding tongs has been food for him! I have tried to hold up some fruit for my Sambava and he gets all intent on it because I hand feed him so much, once he zeros in on it he realizes that it's not a delicious bug and looks at me...
I went real with all my cages and won't change that anytime soon. Can't argue with the deals nature provides you with.
Word to the wise though, I have had my branches in the enclosure for about 4 months now and it is time to change them out. I went and baked the sticks for sanitation...
I used CLR Calcium/Lime/Rust. Whatever that bottle is, you can get it at the local store. It worked wonders. Took all the hard water right off of them in no time they were spraying like new.
