Well, its not really being used as an excuse more of a fact, that's how nature works. And you are merely proving my point in that, us putting them in a cage, out of their natural environment IS the unnatural thing to do.
You also seem to be interchanging "natural" with "healthy" or at least...
Yeah, and there are a lot of people with the same emotional response, I totally get it and respect your opinion, and my intention is by no means "negative" towards you. I was just saying my point of view as well, and that its nature in progress. Do I feel for anything dieing, of course I do...
Yeah its fine, some people blow things out of proportion with things like this, and act on their "emotional" feelings instead of their "logical" thinking... and that's not meant to insult anyone by any stretch. Its just the truth, some people look at that, and get that instant emotional...
yeah, I have one of double T5 fixtures from "lightyourreptiles" as well, although mines the 48" double fixture (running across 2 chameleon enclosures) so I can supply both the 6% arcadia ubv and the 6500k grow lights to both chameleons and all their plants off of 1 light fixture. :D
Both major misting companies that most people on these forums use (aqua zamp rain dome, and MistKing) both have electronic timers to be able to program when the units turn on, when they turn off, and how many times a day to run... the potential ways to configure it are nearly endless.

food association is gold, slowly try to hand feed him while he is in his cage on his own turf. he will slowly associate your hand with "good" as it brings him yummy treats, this will stop him from running from your hand, then you can try to handle him easier :-)
Of course you can get it all for less if buying used and second hand from Craig’s list eBay or where ever, that’s not what I was saying or the point I was getting at. Most people when purchasing a brand new pet for the very first time, usually stay with brand new items since they are not...
yeah like other of said, you can try to add a lot more branches and vines so there is more places to climb from.
also you can line the inside of the cage with "plastic fencing" similar to the below

Well figured I would help answer a some of the questions, Once you get past the initial very large investment (which could easily be $750-1,000 if talking about a panther chameleon) once you factor in getting the cage ($100), proper lighting hardware and bulbs ($150), vines / plants ($50)...
if you have the 24x24x48 DIY cage, then I would say get 1 48" dual T5 light fixtures to go across both cages (one with a uvb bulb, one with 6500k bulb) "Lightyourreptiles.com" has a ton to choose from with Arcadia uvb bulbs
here's an example

well "coolest colors" is very subjective as each person will vary in their opinion liking one thing over another.
But with you saying you like "red, orange, and blue's" you may want to look at various breeders offering Ambanja chameleons, they generally have alot of those colors in them...
Sure, this is my wife at the show holding him just before we officially got him.
I took a bunch more "nice" pictures once we got home Ill post up once I get a chance to upload them :-)
