As a new Cham owner, I would agree with everyone here and just add that they are indeed "high maintenance" pets.
All someone needs to do now is come out with a metering device that drops dusted crickets on a timer...hummmmmmm...light bulb coming on... :)
I did my homework thoroughly...

What are you using for a cricket feeder? Unless I break off the back legs, they will jump out of my little feeding station (I currently have the 2-cup magnetic version which I use for superworms).
As I have read many times, it's not advisable to let crickets roam the cage a they may...
My sub-adult Ambanja is < 1 week old from the Pet Store and is used to "feeding" when the employees get to work (~ 10:00AM). Their idea of feeding was to throw a 1/2 doz + crickets in the cage, then move on. I'm sure this was a regular routine for them (and him).
Now that he's home, I'm...
I've only had RANGO since last Thursday afternoon and seen him go from "GREAT" to "OBSTINANT" very quickly.
I just hope he is being obstinant and not headed downhill on me so quickly!
Fortunately, I work from my home and I can keep an eye on him and will continue to work with him until I...
Zillaman:
I share your thoughts as I thought I had done EVERYTHING RIGHT for my new sub-adult Ambanja Panther. Day 1, he was happy, eating out of my hand, lapping water, beautiful color display and settling into his new cage.
Sunday night, I decided to add just a wee bit more "deco" to...

Unfortunately, I was "forced" to use the ZooMed Combination light and since I also use an additional 2.0 UVB light for my plants, I have "zero" room on the top of the cage.
This cage is 1 of 2 "focal" points in our living room, custom built into our entertainment center and my wife...
I am hoping it just a little "adjustment" he's going through. Adding these vines last night adding a LOT of excitement to the cage.
I am very aware of how animals react to dropping barometers, and I also am hoping this may be part of the "package".
As mentioned, I'm monitoring his VERY...
OK...so things were going well with my new Cham until I decided to add new artificial vines/leaves to the top and sides Sunday PM. The are very leafy and life-like and my whole idea was to make a backdrop to catch mist from my MistKing and provide additional drops of water for RANGO. From day...
Chamelot sure has a beautiful Male at their exhibit. There were not a lot of males there and I was hoping to see more there.
I only hope that RANGO will get that big and gentle when he turns 1 year old.

Zubi:
He's a 6 month old Ambanja. Came from a West Coast breeder. Just got him Thursday and he really POPS when he flares.
Just got back from the Reptile Show in Tampa and he was (in my opinion) would have come in 2nd place for color. He is already eating from my hand and really adapted...
OK boys and girls, I finally dug out my NIKON just before RANGO decided to curl up for the night.
Today, (day 2), I have him eating crickets and superworms from my fingers!
We are on our way to BONDING!
You can see his photo finally. This is his "normal" colors. When he's HOT...he's...
He is home
OK...my appologies for no pics yet. Today has been MORE trips to get another power supply (much larger) to accomodate the MistKing digital timer and one for the combo light. I will have to play electrician soon, since the ZooMed combo light only has 1 cord that controls all 3...
He is home
This is my first CHAM. I've had captive snakes and lizards and kept saltwatere fish for years.
I've done so much homework on this guy, I feel like my brain is overloaded.
The reward was his immediate "comfort level" after climbing inside his cage!

He is home
Last week when we bought him, we were told he was 8 months old. Today, another employee said only 6 months. If he is really only 6 months old, I can't WAIT to see the colors in the next few months!
His length (nose to vent) is about 8 inches.

Today, I picked up my male ambajole Cham on schedule and brought him in to his new "home". He is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL to say the least...oranges, reds, pearl stripe down his side broken with blues ranging from deep sky blue to tourquoise.
He climbed into his abode and spent about 10...
you find out that AFTER you bought the Cham, your wife can't stand the sound of chirping crickets, THEN, you move the crickets into your office.
OR
you end up spending "another" 100 bucks on a combo light fixture, since the wife doesn't like the "looks" of the black dome fixture on top...
I was thrilled how easy this setup works and how easy the digital timer was to program.
After the second misting, I happened to walk by the cage and the unit was still pumping away.
I unplugged and plugged the cord back in...still pumping!
(No Cham yet...I get him on Thursday)!
I've...
