Thanks for this reply.
Whatever is was, he is no longer producing/pooping it. Nothing in the cage since I posted this yesterday.
Would an unsually large bulbous area at the base of his vent where the tail starts be related to sperm accumulation?
OMG! Maybe he's becoming a MAN'ther...
Jimmy looks like he could be my Rango's twin.
Only difference is Rango has a broken series of dashes down his side rather than the solid line. He is also 8 months old.
Is he an Ambanja? I'm basing that comment on what Rango is SUPPOSED to be

I posted this yeaterday, and although a lot of you viewed it, there were no responses. I was really hoping to hear back from some of the seasoned members:

Since I've had my sub-adult male Ambanjo, he's been a beautiful pooper.
I'm feedng him an average of 10-12 dusted/gut-loaded crickets per day, so I would expect nothing less of him.
He has great color, very active, drinks regularly (from mister and from spray bottle) and shows NO SIGNS of...
I use the MistKing system 4 times a day for 2 minutes each time.
I am misting from the top of a 53" tall screen enclosure, and the mist is filtering down through a tall "Devil's Ivy" plant onto a 1/4" coconut fiber mat.
Under the mat, I have 3/16" hardware cloth bottom.
Under that, I...

What kind of Cham are you getting?
You remind me of myself when I was counting down the days until I got mine just over 3 weeks ago.
Wait until he eats from your hand!!!!!!!
Wait until he drinks straight from the hand-misting bottle!
All in time!...You'll LOVE every minute of...

I'm hoping that this behavior is related to shedding, but have not witnessed that event yet (from him). I've kept other reptiles and seen this many times, and I do know that there are some pre-shed behavior.
I'll continue to look for other "wierd" behavior signs, but as I have...
THANKS for the replies, and I hope to see more throughout the day.
I am taking the "husbandry" part of his care VERY SERIOUSLY and just want to make sure that there is nothing going wrong that I can correct in the early stages if necessary.
I just went in to take a look at him again, and...
After almost 3 weeks of nothing but good behavior, my sub-adult Ambanja has changed some of his habits.
He is spending a lot of time on his favorite vine with his head facing down.
He still basks on his favorite spot, and climbs all over the cage as usual.
He is still eating good...

Thanks for your information. I don't expect to keep him outside for long periods of time (especially in cooler weather), nor do I want to let him stay out there even too late in the evenings (even though the temps are ideal).
Although living in Tampa Suburbia, we still have stray...
Just to clear any questions, he is normally kept inside our house in his custom cage with proper lighting, misting, live plants and HD TV...(just kidding about the TV).

Today, Rango, our sub-adult Ambanjo male, has entered the world of our back yard in his new cage.
If feeding and drinking is a sign of happiness, well...HE MUST HE HAPPY, as he jumped right in, enjoying crickets and drinking from the misting nozzle.
Any thoughts from the group on just how...
I know I've been there too.
You can sit back and smile when you feed 16 crickets in 1 day from your fingers to your Cham.
I want to continue this daily (not necessarily THAT many), for a while, then slowly starting to get him on my hand for a short time daily.
One of these days he HAS...
That's GREAT.
I should try that. When I put superworms into my little plastic cup on the magnetic feeding shelf, my Ambanja will zap the cup and his tongue will sometimes stick to it and pull the cup out of the holder...
They DO have some cute tricks!

I'd like to go the way of the Dubia's, but in my wife's opinion...a roach is a roach is a roach.
She'd take out the can of RAID if she saw a roach in the house!
It's bad enough that I have a cricket jump out of my hand from time to time.
We probably have a breeding population...
We have a Pet Supermarket here in Tampa that we regularly buy our dog food from.
This last trip there was the turning point as my wife bought a young Jackson's Cham for our grandson.
The salesperson was just that...a SALES person.
They sold my wife things she didn't need, improper...
Well...based on these comments, I suppose I could cut him back to no more than 8-10 crickets daily. I usually feed him after he basks for an hour or so in the morning, and not before his first morning misting. I offer him a few more during the day as I did today on 3 ocasions. If anyone...
Not sure when he shed last, other than a partial shed the week I picked him up from the pet dealer. Again, I have only had him for ~ 2 weeks.
Maybe this is a pre-shed buffet.
As long as this is "healthy", I'll continue to offer him all he can eat, but I will wait to hear back from some of...
As you know, I'm a fairly new Cham owner for only ~ 2 weeks.
I've been away for a couple of days and started hand feeding RANGO again this morning. My wife was feeding him while I was gone and he ate regularly.
He has always seemed a good "feeder", but today, over a 4 hour period, I...
