    Baby chameleons

Thanks Brad for your thoughts on the matter. I had not really thought about the benefits of them all hatching together for the big dig but that makes a lot of sense, even if the weaker and perhaps less developed chams did not make it to the serfice they would probably help their bros and sisters...

    Baby chameleons

I am very curious to know about baby chameleons in the wild....I read on here and other places too of baby chameleons having trouble breaking out of there eggs etc and it makes me wonder what the percentage is of wild baby chams that make it. In captivity the babies only have the struggle of...

    Feeding Locusts

Wow never even thought about gutloading with grass! But I guess it makes sense so long as chams like grassgutloaded critters. Does grass have good stuff in it for chams? I guess it must do if it is their natural calcium scorce! It is really strange that there does not seem to be any nutritional...

    Feeding Locusts

Are they nutritionaly good enough to feed often or only as a treat? In the UK locusts are used as feeder insects for many lizards/spiders etc but I can not find out much about how good they are??? Most articles just say that they are good  All I know is that chameleons LOVE them with a passion.

    My veiled is sick.

Well regarding getting him out of the viv, as has already been mentioned you can use gloves so that you won't be worried about getting bitten. Try to be calm and move slowly. Chameleons should not be grabbed from above because that would really really freak them out. you need to slip your hand...

    do chameleons sneeze?

yes the huff or the sneeze/snort is always just a little dry puff of air from the nose....different to the opened mouth stay away from me hiss but I have never assoiated it with illness of any kind.

    enrichment

Yes thats cool. Perhaps you are right about a well equiped viv being interesting enough to keep them amused. Maybe that really is all they need? all though I would be interested to hear other peoples oppinions on this.

    enrichment

Something you said there made me wonder if chams would prefer to be able to at least see lots of things going on.....from a distance? I have heard cham owners say that their cham likes looking out of a window. Now obviously we all know that chams are better kept in a quiet area of the house as...

    do chameleons sneeze?

this is really interesting. I have heard 2 of my chameleons make the little huff of annoyance/sneeze thing and I have also felt the vibrating thing that people are talking about. It was great to hear that recording of it WOW! I can imagin that the vibrations would carry a long way along a...

    enrichment

Is it possible that our chams get bored? or is spraying time, feeding time and varied diet with the ocassional handling/roaming outside of their viv a chams perfect life??

    enrichment

Most animals that are kept in captivity thrive better with proper enrichment.....so are chams really that different? I know that they like their diet varied....but generally don't like change much.... Do our chams get bored???

    Tail rot problem??

IMO after looking at the pictures of the tail tip, the end of his tail is already beyond saving and will probably fall off of its own acord very soon. It could have been any of the senarios that people here have come up as the possible cause of it in the first place. I think the main thing is to...
