New Chameleon // Want opinion on setup/equipment

Welcome to the forums! To answer your question about UVB, most people us ReptiSun 5.0 or Arcadia 6% bulbs because they are proven and put out enough UVB for chameleons. Some people also use ReptiSun 10.0 bulbs successfully, in that case you may just want a little more distance between the...

    Jungle Hobbies Cages

I have Reptibreeze and LLLReptile cages. They are both great, the LLLReptile has more accessories like drainage trays and a height expander, but I only have the drainage tray. I saw the Canvas Chameleons one, and it looks interesting. Does anybody know what the HD screen is made out of, and...

    Are we all mad???

Being weird sounds like a compliment to me :) However, going into the details can probably be overwhelming for someone who knows nothing about any particular hobby. Also, lots of things can be automated and it is possible to reduce the basic care to as little as 5-10 minutes per day day. I...

    Night time heating

Sorry, didn't notice you had a panther. Updated post: He should be fine down to 50F (10C). This is in the official forum caresheet (https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/panther/) and I have seen it mentioned in other threads as well. Panther chameleons are from Madagascar and...

    Black spot on nose

Looks like a bruise or burn to me. Maybe he has been pushing his nose on the cage to try and get out or get closer to the light? Does it still look the same?

    Some ppk are just

You should also be able to find a way to hang stuff using high strength fishing line, which would not require modifying the cage. Just have to make sure it is installed in such a way that your cham can't get injured by it.

    Sleeping, dehydration, etc!

Welcome to the forums! Your husbandry looks spot on for the most part, the one small tweak I would make is dusting with plain calcium every feeding, calcium with D3 twice a month, and multivitamin twice a month. As for the questions, 1. The white deposit is 100% normal. Veiled chameleons...

    Finally got some pygmys! Questions

I don't have experience with pygmies and I think there are relatively few people on here who do as opposed to other species. However, according to the care sheet, you should have a minimum of 5 gallons per pygmy so I would think the 20 gallon is fine. If the ambient temperature in the room...

Eye Problem :( with petsmart veiled

Yes, that would help a lot, as well as filling out the help form listed earlier in this thread.

    Panther Chameleon eating vines.

This is pretty common. My male panther did the same thing but I don't see any evidence of it happening anymore. I don't think it is from being hungry; he had plenty of food at the time. I am guessing it is more to mark his territory and get out extra energy and aggression. Not entirely sure...

Eye Problem :( with petsmart veiled

I should also mention that in that condition time is of the essence to save her. If it is egg-binding she may not have long unless she is treated by a vet. Even vitamin deficiencies can cause permanent damage if not treated quickly enough.

Eye Problem :( with petsmart veiled

Veileds can lay eggs as early as 5-6 months. Also, in the original post, you said she was an adult which would mean she is over a year old. If she is eggbound or stressed from not being able to lay her eggs it could cause her to close her eyes. There are also other things that could cause...

    Multiple Basking Lights?

Welcome to the forums! You should have at least an incandescent basking spot and a UVB basking spot. Adding more is OK as long as he has appropriate temperature ranges, especially if it is a really large cage. I wouldn't keep the entire top of the cage at the basking temp, because there may...

I don't know if my chameleon is egg bound

The plastic I was referring to is actually sold in sheets for covering things when painting, but you could probably get trash bags to work as well :)

I don't know if my chameleon is egg bound

She needs complete privacy when laying eggs, so I would cover all sides of the cage. It is easy to do with the black plastic you can get in the paint section at a hardware store.

Chameleon Aquarium fan method/is this UVB light okay?

I think Repti-Glo is the Exo-Terra UVB bulb. I haven't personally used it, but I have seen other people on the forum using them so I imagine it will be OK as long as you replace every 6 months.

    Possible MBD/locusts stuck

I would ensure that you still take him to the vet, even though he is doing better. There is definitely something serious going on. Like Kath said, his casque (veil) has some serious deformation and his mouth should close properly. It looks to me like it may be MBD, but hard to tell in the...

    New Panther Chameleon

He is really nice. Lots of color for that age. Once he's settled in hand feeding is usually the best way to get him to trust you.

    Does this cham look healthy?

Sorry forgot to add Bug Burger, which is the gut-load Lovereps mentioned: http://www.amazon.com/Repashy-Bug-Burger-Insect-Food/dp/B00CI6K7ES/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1412565003&sr=8-3&keywords=repashy+bug-burger You can use that along with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables like kale...

    Does this cham look healthy?

Where I live Petco/Petsmart has Repashy Bug Burger. I use Repashy Calcium Plus for D3 and Rep-Cal Herptivite for multivitamin, which were both available at Petco/Petsmart. I had a harder time finding plain calcium at these stores, but you may be able to find something. I use Rep-Cal Calcium...
