    Cham sometimes leaves tongue out?

That is actually an egg-laying proboscis, only found on females. However, as mentioned before, mouth rot is a bacterial infection and could potentially be caused by anything that causes a cut. In the picture you posted it does look like you cham has edema (causes swelling) around the neck...

Veiled chameleon is closing eyes turing the day!!

That's normal that she is missing food when one eye is closed, they need both for depth perception. You could try turning off the UVB bulb for one or two days, and if she opens her eyes that was probably the issue. Just don't leave it off longer than that since lack of UVB can cause metabolic...

Veiled chameleon is closing eyes turing the day!!

My guess would be that she either got something in her eye, the lights are too bright, or she has a vitamin A deficiency. In the picture her eye does not look inflamed/infected to me. Without being able to open both her eyes, she would not be able to aim at and catch crickets, so I wouldn't be...

Jacksons Chameleon acting sick - please help

You should be able to find a digital thermometer/hygrometer at a pet store, or you may be able to find one at a hardware store. You just need something with a probe that will fit in the cage. Digital is usually best, something like below...

took cham to the doctor/ think it did more harm than good???

Not familiar with vibramycin, but it looks like it is an antibiotic. Did the vet give you a schedule to continue the treatment/injections? To my knowledge, all antibiotics require continued dosage and take a while to work, so you may not see an improvement at first. How did he decide on that...

My Chameleon's Breeder Hates Me for Having Live Plant in Enclosure- Help!?

Your husbandry looks very good. The main thing I would do is add more branches as someone else suggested. You can buy dowels from home depot and hold them to the cage with push pins, unless you don't like the look. I would especially make sure that he has a branch that is not more than 7"...

    Chameleon won't lay

It looks like you've already seen the laying bin setup video since you posted in that thread? How deep is the pot you are using, and what is the diameter? She will need complete privacy to lay, so you should cover the sides of the cage if she can see you.

    Concerned!

He looks pretty healthy, I don't see obvious signs of MBD. But yes, you will want to remove the night heat light. It should be completely dark in his cage at night, since light can keep him awake. As long as his cage is above 50F at night, he should be fine, regardless of age, as long as he...

    Concerned!

The biggest issues I see are that there should be no light at night (you don't need anything to keep the temperature up unless it goes below 50F) and you need to adjust your feeding methods. You should dust the feeders with plain calcium (no D3) every feeding, multivitamin twice a month...

Gnc vitamin A ok for cham

There is controversy over whether chameleons can convert beta carotene into preformed vitamin A or whether they need preformed vitamin A as part of their diet. I usually trade off between the two types types of vitamin A. Repashy Calcium Plus is an example of a supplement that contains...

Gnc vitamin A ok for cham

See post #6 in the thread below for information about vitamin A: https://www.chameleonforums.com/cham-keeps-closing-one-his-eyes-66576/ Does your cham have symptoms of vitamin A deficiency? You should only give vitamin A in this way if there is a known issue. It is very toxic and giving...

    Panther Chameleon needs new home

You can get dowels at a hardware store, cut them to the right lengths, and hold them to the screen with a small thumbtack at each end. This is the fastest and cheapest method since the dowels are generally well under $1.

Really, I'm not a stupid person...

I'm glad you were able to find her. They can get away pretty fast. I would recommend you watch them constantly while outside unless in a cage. Even then, there have been stories of birds swooping down to grab them right from in front of their owners.

    New Veiled Owner with concerns...

She does look healthy and very gravid. I would make sure she always has access to a laying bin and that you keep handling to a minimum until she has laid. The laying bin should be about 12 inches deep. You can find more info on this thread if needed...

    what is this?..

It looks like a sinus infection. Since its in her mouth as well, and her eyes are significantly sunken, it appears very serious. Do you know when this started? You would need antibiotic to treat an infection, so unfortunately unless you can get to the vet in time she may not make it...

    Adopting a new female veiled...

The new cage looks good. Do you have any clearer pictures of her? I don't see the MBD. What kind of UVB bulb are you using? If it comes time for her to lay eggs and she will not use the bucket, you can fill a garbage can with moist playsand/soil and leave her in it to see if she will dig...

    Weird "sigh-like" noises

Can you post a picture of him? Is there any way he can see himself or other chameleons (a mirror other cages nearby, etc)? Does he hold his head up a lot, make popping sounds, swallow a lot, or have mucous/bubbles coming out of his mouth?

    I think I may have a fat chameleon(ssshhh don't tell her)

Do you have a picture of her from the top? If she is wide, it may mean she has eggs. How old is she?

    Newbie here!

He needs no heat or light at night unless the temperature gets below 50F. If your temp gets below 50F, you should use a heater that does not put out light, like ceramic heat emitter, or by heating the whole room with something like an oil heater. Even though pet stores will often say they...

    Newbie here!

Welcome to the forums and the world of chameleons! You will get lots of great advice here on how to keep your chameleon healthy. Yes, you have a young veiled chameleon, I would guess around 3 months old. If you post a picture of the back of his back feet we could tell you whether he is a...
