update: the big female is egg bound, she has bout 25 eggs and can't expel them. I left her to the vets today to get oxytocin treatment :( i hope everything goes well :(
wait a sec, generations of chameleons have been bred and raised with 5% bulbs ! if 5% wasn't enough all those chams should have mbd and not breed! could it be that your uv meter readings were so low cause your bulb was borken? how many bulbs did you measure?
I just bought 2 exo terrra 5% neon...
I'm no vet but I'd go for it, at the end of the day a small amount of panacur is not harmful for the cham as other drugs are. how many drops or cc's are you giving?
anyway, try to PM some of the forums' vets, they'll surely help you!
the thing with panacur is that after 3-5 days of treatment you have to wait for another 3-5 days and then start a new 3-5 days cycle because it only kills the adult worms and not the worms' eggs.
you have to wait a few days for the eggs to develop and then use it again to kill the new adults...
next question: if i want to put my females' vivs next to each other do I need something to prevent the girls from seeing each other a part for the plants they have in their cages? do I need like a plastic sheet or something? I'd like to avoid stuff like that cause it limits ventilation! what do...
it sounds really complicated: check if she's interested in digging BUT give her complete privacy  it's a newkeeper's nightmare!!It's the first time for me and I really hope everything goes well!!! :)
wow! very beautiful girl! love the light blue spots! mine is not showing signs of any need to lay, a part for being very round. I don't know what to do anymore! has your female stopped or decreased eating?
very interesting thread, a bit gross but kinda funny anyway! :D last time I took my little female to the vets she dropped a huge poo and the vet was so surprised by the size of it coming from such a tiny animal that he immediately took a picture of it and posted on his facebook page  :D
I agree with you but I don't think I missed the point, I was answering to "leedragon"!
to make it short, my point is that neither the "fish in a tank" nor the "puppy" approach are correct! truth is in the middle, not on your shoulder :D :p
don't bother arguing, most keepers in the US have a different "philosophy" about handling chameleons. In EU we tend to consider them more or less like fish in a tank, nice to watch but (almost) never to handle.I am not saying the "fish in a tank" approach it's the right one but some people on...
mine stopped eating a few days ago so I thought she was ready to lay but apparently she's not. she's constantly climbing the screen, it's like she just wants to be out of the viv and doesnt care about laying. i don't know if it's time to see a vet, i'm afraid she may become eggbound :(
same here :( the other day I thought she was going for the laying bin but she was just trying to escape from her viv :( :( and that's everything she seems interested in. what about yours, is she eating? does she seem restless?
