Hello everyone. It has been some time since I posted on the forums. I have been away dealing with family health issues but have still been keeping up with our little chams, along with the rest of our zoo. I posted a thread a few months ago and can't find it now but it was discussing my...
She is doing better today. She slept in her hole I guess out of instinct. When she woke up this morning she went to her branch and never went back down. She was immediately hungry and ate and drank a lot through out the day. Double checked the bin and it was empty. So total count was 27...
Hmmm so is it common for females to go back to the laying bin and dig a hole like they are going to lay after being given oxytocin? She has already laid 27 eggs... maybe there are more?
Took her to the vet today and got some oxytocin. She laid 27 eggs an hour later and she is doing fine now :) thanks everyone. Hopefully these are fertile that way we will have some Ambanja x Ambilobe babies
My female ambilobe is trying to lay for the second time. She had no problems the first time and this time she has gone down and dug two holes. The first hole I wasn't there to see her back into and lay so I assumed after she came up that she was done. I checked it and no eggs. Tried to...
Has anyone ever seen another panthers PJ colors this white before? My other ambanja who is actually this ones brother has a light green to him and red in him. But Bruce has been showing a lot of white and yellow at night. And during the day he is a really dusty light green with what looks...
I second the notion that there is nothing to back up your statement that they are sensative to the light. Most albinos in fact in the wild die not due to health defects but due to the fact that they stand out like a sore thumb. If they are an apex predator that may be a different story but...
Confused on how they are not suppose to exist? Are we not living in an imperfect world where there are such things like this amongst many creatures including humans? Are people who are albino not suppose to exist or people with vitilago? Seems like a silly thing to say and give a reason for...
Well we were looking at the Avey but are still wanting to see more options.. everyone keeps telling me to go with the hovabator and am kind of leaning towards that now too. Betty is getting fatter by the day!
Females aren't just for breeding. I know plenty of people who have females and they don't breed. They got them specifically because they wanted a female. It is true that laying can shorten the life span but this is if you breed them. A female laying lower infertile clutches don't have these...
I have not but if I were you I would not use them. If they even have a potential to be a risk I wouldn't take the chance unless someone can prove otherwise. It is much easier to just use other feeders if you want a variety in your chams diet. There are a lot of safe and easy feeders.
I've heard not to feed monarchs. Rule of thumb that I have always been told is the more colorful the butterfly the more harmful. Go with a less colorful one IMO. Maybe someone will more knowledge will comment though.
Okay yeah I have been told about this one too.. is there another one out there that you have heard of that has more temp control? Money really isn't the issue
