I know this is an old post but I'd been wondering the same thing with my baby - I'm glad to hear that the lighter colors are fairly pleased colors . . . he hangs out on the back of my chair when I work on the computer and is a light color . . .
Wow! Since I read this post I put a few more crickets in his cage and he went right after them like I hadn't given him 8 this morning . . . I gave him a few more flightless fruit flies too . . .
I've wanted a chameleon for a long time and ended up with my Senegal as a rescue from a hoarder but he was probably wild caught and not well cared for obviously, so as cool as he is to watch he is pretty stand offish (though he will climb on my hand now) - so for about four months I've wanted a...
I just got my baby panther from Kamerflage chameleons today - he is a cutie!
I think he's going to be a pistol too - I'd been reading that I should be very careful to let him come out of his shipping container on his own and not stress him - well, he walked right out and into his cage and...
Is it possible for a senegal to have an enclosure that is too big? I have one that I rescued from a shelter after he was taken from a hoarder and I got him a big enclosure - a large reptibreeze and filled it with umbrella plants just thinking he would really enjoy the space but he spends most...
Thanks for the replies on my other post about how big of a cage to get a panther hatchling . . .
I was trying to decide the best place to put my hatchling (when I get him) and I was thinking of getting a long coffee table sort of thing and just putting both cages on that - that way everyone's...
I got my first chameleon about six months ago and now I want to buy a second, but I want to get a baby - my question is probably simple for a experienced chameleon person - but should I get a smaller cage for a hatchling with the plan to upgrade as he gets bigger or should I buy a cage with his...
great - thanks! I had wondered what gut loading was!
I got a good look at my chameleon today because I was setting up his mister and he crawled onto my hand (yea!) - he does have a tail bulge - so that is a male, correct? I didn't see any heel spurs, but then I read that only particular...
I tried to change the gender everywhere, but I think I missed some :)
I think we have decided this is a senegal - though I was told she was a flap neck . . . I'm glad if she is a senegal though, because it explains her color being so light . . .
Thanks for the clarification on the drip...
Ok - I've got my poor little rescue chameleon's new cage set up - it actually took her a few hours to venture from the fake plants onto the real ones, but she's set up his new sleeping area in a real plant so I guess she likes it . . . she also was fairly calm when I moved him into his new cage...
It was cool to watch him eat - he had one eye on me and one on the cricket :)
He did poop a little and it looks white - though I'll check a little more closely when I turn off his lamp now that I know what it should look like . . .
Thanks for all the help everyone!
I got a zoo med combo that is called the basking combo - it is a basking UVB lamp and a inferred heat lamp . . .
I did see where I could get crickets online, thanks . . . I've had creatures that ate crickets in the past and I swear they were not this small - I just wanted something for him...
yeah - my camera is not very good - let me look up the sengal and see if that looks closer to what he is - with where he came from I wouldn't be surprised at all if they told me wrong . . .
I've got a whole new cage coming and I got him a hibiscus and two lavender plants today (I looked all over for the umbrella plant - apparently East Fort Worth is umbrella plant free or something - fortunately due to the heat the hibiscus has lost some leaves and is perfect for climbing) - this...
In theory I have two pictures of the little guy attached to this message . . . you can see he is totally the wrong color . . . he is still moving around so that is good . . .
Thanks for all the suggestions - I'm going to have to look up what an umbrella plant is - but I've got a Walmart on...
Hi! I've always sort of wanted a chameleon and recently had the chance to receive a rescue flap neck from an animal protection group that seized him from a hoarder who had over 600 animals . . . I just brought him home today . . .
I've had snakes and basic lizards (anoles, skinks, etc . . .)...
