So, I have had my veiled for about a year now, first time owner, and he has been healthy and happy. I have never had to take him to the vet before, but should I take him on a schedule? If so, how often should I get him checked? He is about 2 years old.

Same here, I also got my first cham around a year ago, Christmas time of last year, and had been coming to these forums for information. I only recently made an account, and so far everyone has been wonderful.
