I’m hoping that ABG mix wicks the moisture that’s what it’s meant to do at least that pothos seems to really like it.
The structure seems thicker on the bottom planters soil though, so we shall see
Now my main concern is making sure that left money tree doesn’t get flooded with the misting input being overhead
The top looks moist but a chopstick test says we’re okay. For now.
Thank you!
It’s a remodel
I took out some wood that stayed too damp and reported some plants and added a pothos I potted in better substrate I changed some climbing paths too
What I did was I put Iroh in a small dark space (ventilated shoebox with paper towel on the floor) so it was dark...
After an adjustment phase getting use to the new layout he is officially using the full gradient
Messing with my misting configuration we got humidity right where it should be and the plants seem to be happy
Hopefully this pothos explodes soon I mixed in worm castings to the ABG as a gentle...
hornworms normally come in a cup with food in it with mesh
You store the cup upside down and all the droppings that way don’t fall in the food and are easy to clean
Don’t buy too many at once as they grow quick. I order mine online and get them super small due to this
So this is good on all fronts your intuition is spot on. Encourage but don’t force interaction
Hand feeding treats is a good way to encourage interaction. Building trust with your Cham is good practice for times where you may need to transport to the vet or do some other task like...
Mist twice a day, you can make a diy dripper with a solo cup with some ice cubes in it with pin holes on the bottom this will allow water to slowly enter the enclosure
You can also feed soft body feeders like horn worms to help with hydration they’re basically sacs of water
As long as half the...
You may not have asked for a Cham but I will say if you have a growth mind set and you’re willing to take input from others you will develop skills related to husbandry and herpetology and it becomes quite fun when it’s not scary anymore
Congrats on making the feeding station! It’s always satisfying when we make something to serve a function for our chams and it works as intended. :)
Neptune is a form member here so the information you’ll get is very similar
There’s a lot of disinformation and conflicting information...
Thank you for all your helpful content over the past two years (you as well Neptune!) your content has really helped push me in the right directions with raising my little guy.
What a wonderful little community the forms are
I get envious of other people’s feeding stations
My veiled is so food motivated at feeding time he bum rushes the door so fast I wouldn’t even be able to add bugs to one 😅
As for worrying about overspray when you do mist there’s a lot of creative solutions that won’t break the bank. Especially as it gets cold and dry with winter, you get the added bonus of humidity retention too. People use cut shower curtains, PVC panels or even just wrapping 3 walls with plastic...
There’s a lot of diy hacks to make solid enclosures for much cheaper than prefab options
When you do upgrade to a 2x2x4 if you ever want to look into making it a hybrid cage, you can install pvc panels on the sides that’s just one example.
Your basking distance looks good at a glance 8-9 inches is good practice for uvb exposure (this is assuming mesh top and the lighting fixtures that were recommended on this form
Does your Cham screen climb to higher points beyond the highest branch? This is a common behavior in younger Chams.
If they do, you can raise the fixture slightly off the cage top to address this.
What’s the temp at the highest point your Cham climbs? As mentioned earlier by someone else the highest temp for your friend should be about 80-81 at the highest branch
