How long do we give these big tasty leaves before this guy wreaks havoc on them?
Thankfully I got my branches set up so he doesn’t trample the planter anymore 😅😅
(Thank you all for posting your terrorized plants, I’ve been driving myself crazy to keep my plants looking pretty with my veiled and it makes me feel better about my failed attempts to keep things lush and healthy)
If your parasite screen comes back negative it’s your green light to plan out a 2x2x4 cage when feasible I wish you best of luck.
I will second what I think @Beman said about sourcing bugs online as being safer than stores. A large reason is a lot of stores will cross contaminate their feeder...
Did you repot your plants? Neptune has a video you can watch if you need any guidance about intergrating plants to your enclosure
The main thing is no fertilizer, we tend to use organic potting soil (I tend to lean towards using substrate and add worm castings for nutrient) and give them a...
You are welcome
These things are great. I have two of them in my cage to tie together the natural wood fixtures I have and to offer a path over my trailing plant so my guy doesn’t trample the plants by climbing over them
Everything can be a little scary with raising a new kind of animal, but you got access to knowledgeable keepers here if it makes you feel any better, continue to use this resource, be open to feedback and you’ll be okay.
Cheap timer for lights - yes
Healthy poop that doesn’t smell - also good (should still get a fecal ran before building a permanent cage, a lot of us had made the mistake of skipping this step, building a beautiful cage and contaminated our hard work with parasites)
Hornworm note: they are...
Some like to tuck themselves in early and even start to lighten up while lights are on. Mine isn’t one of them he seems to have a good internal clock and waits until the last 30 mins or so of the day to wind down

Hi and welcome
I’m sure someone will drop the husbandry form soon! Once you fill that out the form can help you in more detail
You already made vast improvements. Once your plants grow in you seem to have a solid foundation for the rest of your cage.
To answer your question about branches...
Your plants and hardscape in your cage offer a benefit when it comes to the water cycle and that is they are a humidity buffer (live plants and soil more so than plastic)
But you’re right that they will keep water from swamping your cage.
You do want to make sure your floor isn’t too...
You’ll know you have a very balanced heat and UV gradient when your Cham does make laps and use the whole cage
It’s easier to add branch systems higher up when you do have dragon ledges or make a lattice system on the sides to angle branches
