his temp is at a steady 80 degrees. i have a reg light in there cuz the lady said as long as i feed him crickets with the calcium supplement he wont need uv. is that dumb?

i just got my first veiled cham..he's about 4 months old. he's always an earthy tone like a brown until i hold him then he turns lime green (hints the name kiwi). sometimes if my hand is close to him he turns kind of spotted like a leopard. is all this normal? also i keep hearing i shouldnt...
