I have thought about it, but to be honest, I'm not interested in taking care of a ton of baby chams, and if they didn't make it I would be devistated! I would only breed him if someone wanted to do the breeding for me and I would still keep him like if he was more of a "stud" and someone wanted...
Wow this is all very informative about the Parson's. I didn't realize they were illegal to be wild caught! Why is that? Where they or are they endangered or something? I just love the look of those guys, but the price is too much for me lol :p
I like getting the hornworms from Great Lakes hornworms for just around 30 dollars for two habitat cups with food and they last me forever since I put them in the fridge back and forth to keep them from getting too big too fast. I get silks from Mulberry farms and they have habitat cups also and...
Well, I guess if he's a year old and he can take down the giant sized worms before they are moths he should be okay...IF they actually turn into moths that is! :p
I'm trying to raise a few hornworm moths to give my panther cham some different stuff to eat and I wasn't sure if they would be too big? They are gigantic and I don't want him to choke, but he eats the almost full size worms and are okay getting them down..He's one year old. Thanks for any input!
I just got some hornworms from great lakes hornworms like everyone else is reccomending, and I always get great quality. I live in CA and they come in great shape. I got two hornworm cups with worms and food together with mesh in the cup for $31.45 including tax and shipping. Now, I don't know...
We get our house sprayed for bugs(except the cham room) so if one gets out, I don't take any chances having him getting into poision and then being fed to Loki. I don't like squishing bugs though, so if I happen to find it alive(they are usually dead from the bug spray) I'll let it go outside lol
It's their instinct to protect themselves when they're younger because they think they're going to be eaten! Think how you would feel if you were that small and had these big hands reaching in for you! Just work with him and be paitent. He'll come around
Maybe you need to spend more time getting your little guy to recongnize you as a food source? Like hand feeding and maybe a small free range to get him out of his cage. Mine always felt cornered in his cage when he was younger, and it took months for him to warm up to me. He now "begs" to come...
You're welcome:D You'll find what works with your little guy, it seems to me everyone kind of has their own way of doing things with schedualing the feedings, types of food and so on. Variety is key along with good suplementation of calcium and vitamins. Also when mine is about to go through a...
Maybe try hand feeding? I also switch the type of food I'm feeding every time (ex: monday: crickets, tuesday: hornworms, wednesday: skip feeding, thursday: butterworms....) I skip feeding him every two days, it seemed to really help his appitite to know that food isn't abundent all the time. I...
