Thanks for the reply! I think I will go with the idea of the PVC pipe since that piece of wood is kinda heavy. I don't want the cage to get bent over time and I think the pipe would help distribute the weight that much better. Thanks for the idea!
I've been starting to put this new cage together and took a few pics of the concept I'm thinking of. The grapewood is connected with some gardening wire to the top back frame, and it seems to be strong enough...I'm letting it hang in there for a few days to make sure it holds, plus I'm still...
I got mine from home depot and it works perfectly. I had one that came with the mistking and it died within a month:( I love my mister though! Just not the timer so much lol
But the one I have is a different scientific name than that one. I think there are multiple kinds and mine is solid purple and that one has stripes and the leaves are different
I have a male panther and he eats two days on, one day off. On those days if he's having crickets he'll have 5-6 medium to large crickets. If it's hornworms he'll have 2-3 large worms. if it's butterworms or silkworms he'll have 4-5. I'm not sure about the females though, I've only had my one...
Are the purple heart wandering jew plants okay for chameleon enclosures? I see wandering jew on the safe plant list, but it's a different kind, and I wasn't sure if anyone has used this before? Here is a link to a picture:

I just have some lying around...
I use a mistking that goes off 4 times a day for 5 min. each session and that keeps the humidity where it needs to be. From what I understand you want spikes of humnidity all day, it doesn't need to be constant. I also keep lots of live plants in the enclosure that helps keep the humidity at a...
Love this thread! My resolution is to practice my yoga at least 3 times a week as soon as I'm healed from my surgery (I miss it so much!!) And to practice meditation twice a week. Also to get my MRI license by May :)
I have a "free range" with no UVB light next to my chameleon's cage in my office and he gets to come out and explore almost everyday for a few hours at a time. Just make sure he doesn't get too cold or he will fall asleep and you'll have to wake him up and put him back in his cage to get warm...
Sorry didn't mean to confuse! Yes you are correct, they have not been using it for the 30 yrs, but they have tested it with good results! I'm in no way an expert, I've had my little guy for a year now and that's all I've used, and he's doing very well! Just thought I'd suggest it, it does make...
I use Repashy's Calcium plus which is a multivitamin and calcium in one that you use at every feeding. I like this because that way you don't have to have a schedual to keep track of. The Kammers have been using it with great results and they've been doing this for 30 years so I trust them!
Kammerflage sells awesome little guys from amazing blood lines IMO:) That's where my panther is from and I've had great experience with their customer service and answering all my questions via email and over the phone. They know their stuff and have been working with chameleons for 30+ years...
So I have been putting together all the different parts to his new enclosure for some weeks now, and I'm still waiting on a few things in the mail that I ordered online (This holiday mail is killing me!!) So here's my plan of what I will have set up:
24W x 24D x 48H Black screen cage from LLL...
The bottom in my cage is removable which I have covered with a fish tank background and poked some holes in for help draining. I have a tray under my cage to catch water that I got from LLLReptile, with a drilled hole for a bulkhead and a attached tubing that I got when I ordered my mistking...
You also need to think about how you will be letting your cage drain, and that can cost more money to put together. I'd say 200-300 dollars is pretty acurate...My stand was not inexpensive, but I got a nice wooden one that was made for a fish tank. You could go inexpensive as possible, but don't...
Thanks for the reply! the grapewood I have has lots of branches on it, and I'm wrapping bendable vines around them to make them easier to climb on as well as more vines in the cage by themselves for climbing space. I'll also be attaching ferns to the the wood and tree fern background so that I...
