Good news. And based on the advice you received from your vet, I would feel comfortable that he is knowledgeable about the care of chameleons. He seemed to tell you the correct things to do, which honestly doesn't always happen wit h vets, as many don't specialize in or know much about chameleons.
I too am curious about the effects of a 4 bulb fixture. I know it would be great for my plants. Does anyone have experience on the effect to the chameleon?
And yes a humidifier will help to raise ambient relative humidity. Do a quick search as there have been several threads today on humidifiers in a room. You'll find good info.
Yep, I agree completely. And if that wasn't coming across clear enough in my prior posts (both here and at other related threads) thank you for helping to clarify. That's how I use my humidifier. At night, while the furnace is running (I'm in Ohio - dry during the winter) to help increase...
Attach the screen to the exterior of the wooden frame, and then cover the exterior of the wooden frame with thin trim pieces to cover the exposed edges. Or vice versa.
First things first, you should get her to a vet as others have said.
Going forward, I would look at the following:
So, you need to discontinue using a bulb at night - chameleons do not need it, and actually need a temperature drop. Also, I would recommend increasing your automated misting...
I guess it sort of depends. It may be something you would need to try out and see how it goes. The one important thing is that cage does need to dry out in between misting, or your risk respiratory infection, bacteria, etc. That's always my main concern with constant fogging blasting directly...
See this thread and this thread. But basically it should not be your sole water source, or really not even considered a water source for that matter. Chams won't drink from that sort of mist . You will need a dripper and also mist via a handheld sprayer or automated misting system - they will...
Lol one more thing, since you're new to the forum, just as a general note I would like to recommend you check out the new care guide. See the link in my signature above. It has lots of great info!
My recommendation would be to use it as a general way to humidify the room the cham is in, but to not directly aim it into the enclosure. You'll want to rely on misting and dripping for the actual condensation - as that is necessary for the cham to drink. It will not stay properly hydrated with...
