Where we got him he was considered a juvenile, so maybe he was in the range of 4-5 months, I've had him for about 2 months and I am getting a bigger cage by the end of May. Thanks for the help!
All tips are greatly appreciated :), he's one of my two chameleons that I am taking care of to have a great life, and I'm intrested in breeding them later on.
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Male Veiled Chameleon
Handling - I only take him out once or twice a week, usually when he wants to to get natural UV rays
Feeding - I feed him crickets gut loaded with zucchini, carrots, or asparagus, usually 6-7. Recently I've been feeding him hornworms and he...
I mist him until he drinks two to three times a day and today I've given him his first hornworm , he's the first chameleon I got and he seems to be doing well.
That's adorable! My little one just shed 2 weeks ago. Wish you best luck with your little one because I know she's going to have a great life with you!
Do you have any favorite online breeder? I may buy a couple so I could breed them. I tried breeding some from the pet store but I have 2-3 die each day even though they're in a suitable habitat.
I can answer a few of these questions for you! For my little baby I use a coiled UV bulb even though most people prefer to have a linear UV light. The cool part of the cage does not require any heat since that's where the chameleon will be to cool down. Usually I clean my cages once a month or...
Usually when crickets are large, they will die since they are old. I've had the same problem with big crickets once, and then I just started buying small crickets since they don't die as fast as the big ones. Hope this helps!
If you barley got the chameleon, give it time to get used to his/her new home. After about two to three weeks you can try to hand feed it. My baby veiled that I just got a week ago loves to be hand fed, as she would get the crickets right out of my fingers!
Also if you dislike going to the pet store very so often for crickets or other feeders you can try to breed them. Not only will it save you money, but will also supply you with almost an unlimited amount of feeders if done correctly!
Super worms can be used but not a lot, since I've heard some chameleons get "addicted" and won't eat anything else but super worms which are high in fat. Also you are right! I gut load my crickets with carrots and zucchini, I also tried feeding my chameleons roaches but they seem to not be...
She also gets green in the span of a few seconds when I come to check on her, and I'm thinking that it is stress. She's only really green when she sleeps
Yes I've heard that as well too, but I've also heard that some people has had success with them. Anyways I'm still confused on why my female chameleon always stays a dark color to almost black half of the day.
