so ive got my new chameleon and im buying all sorts of critters to feed his face with. dubias, crickets, silkworms...and locusts!
i read somewhere (at least i think i did) that if u put packing tape around the inside of your tub they cant climb past it. well i put 50 of the little buggers in...
well this morning i tried again and think ive got a good method. i have a small branch about a foot long which i place in front of him partially blocking his head so if he does bite the stick deflects it whilst my hand goes slowly under his back legs and stomach, lift the stick and he holds on...
yes sorry organic is what i meant.
it has several small airvents already but this wasnt sufficient so i cut out 16" square out of the top of the tank and fitted a regular household plastic airvent to the inside and outside (so the hole wasnt visable. i also sealed the cut edge of the hole...
i'll take some later on. im pretty sure its the early stages of MBD he doesnt look poorly in the least other than his droopy casque. im trying to locate a local vet to get him checked out to be on the safe side and his diet will be much improved with the right suppliments. hopefully he'll make a...
his casque is a little bit droopy. i only got him 2 days ago and i suspect the guy hasnt given him the best diet he said he fed him only crickets and didnt dust with any suppliments. he's otherwise strong and healthy just a bit of a droopy head crest.
doing a bit of research on expanding my chams diet and came accross calci worms which ive not heard of before
are these any good for chams and if so in what quantity. i have a year old male veiled.
i just plan on sticking the roach house on top of my cham tank, the heat that radiates up should be more than sufficient. i dont need thousands of them just a steady supply.
my dubias arrive tomorrow, ive never bred them before is it just a case of stick them in together with the right conditions and it just happens?
how long does it take the babies to get big?
finally got some pics up of my new veiled male who i got the other day. hes called Simmons, if you like the band KISS you can guess why haha.
i took him in off someone who cant look after him anymore and i suspect has neglected his diet a bit as his casque is a bit flopped over. other than...
i'll try to get some pics up but he tends to puff up when i go near him with a camera so its not a good indication of his weight. hes a big chap though and seems a good weight with some meat on his bones for sure.
wax worms are going to be a treat for now and then, i use them for my geckos...
i hear a lot of conflicting info here.
so far ive put about 6-7 good size crickets in his feeder cup every day. he eats them in 2 or 3 stages not all at once.
is this enough every day or shall i increase/decrease this.
also ive read alot about feeding them every other day?
i have...
yes i found that once hes out hes totally chilled and happily spent 15 minutes on my hands...its just getting him out of his tank in the first place haha.
i might try the coloured clothes thing see if it helps any. great advice guys really great community here :)
thanks guys, i won't give up for sure hes an amazing animal and if all i can ever do is look at him that would be enough for me hes a pleasure just to own. ive started to place my hand in the tank every few hours with a cricket which he just eyes curiously. hes eaten from my hand 3 times now...
