I only do this when there is a problem with their eyes or acting sick or dehydrated. I also have a automated misting system that sprays for 1 minute every hour with 4 misting heads. My 5 month old veiled stays right out and lets the water hit him directly, my 16 month old panther runs for cover...
The splitting was most likley caused from water getting in the wood and swelling. On the 2 cages I just recently built, they got 4 coats of polyurethane. Sanded the first 3 coats with 0000 steel wool and applied the 4th coat and left it alone. I also use 100% silicone to seal all edges and where...
I feed my crickets dandelion leaves a couple times a week. Just pick them out of my lawn and throw them in. Make sure they are not treated with anything. I also got some hornworms from linda a couple weeks ago. My chams go crazy for them. I ordered babies and had to wait a week for them to get...
They cant climb smooth surfaces. I bought 100 a month ago and have fed a few off but think im gonna keep them to start a colony. Just had 6 horn worms bury themselves to pupate tonight. So hopefully in a month ill have moths to breed. Have another 6 im waiting on to be ready to pupate
How do you keep your container from being sucked in? I accidently screwed the lid on mine tight one day and a couple days later I was checking the level and it was all sucked in. I now leave it loose. I also use RO water. Have never had a problem. Even filtered water would help reduce the...
Is the top of that cage glass? If so the uvb rays will not penetrate the glass being worthless to your little guy. Are your temps good? I keep my veiled around 72-76 and basking area in the mid 80's. Glass cages are easy to over heat. Are you providing heat at night? Not really needed unless...
I cup feed my baby veiled. He eats 1/2" crickets now. One sometimes 2 escape from the bowl. If you use a plastic container the crickets can't get enough traction to jump. I tried cup feeding my panther and he would have no part in it. He likes to hunt them down.
i think it would be a good idea to get her in a bigger screen cage, even if you have to scab something together for 10 bucks and get her a basking light and a good uvb light. and calcium, she needs calcium
no, just drill a bunch of holes in the plastic bottom white piece. small enough your crickets wont get out. then sit the cage in the plastic container. on my new cages i bought a transmission drain pan and built the cage around them and used plastic light diffuser material, it's a plastic grid...
Get a tupperware container the cage will fit in, a shallow one. dril a hole for a plug or hose running to a bucket and drill the plastic bottom with a bunch of small holes. be sure to prop up the cage an inch or two so it is not sitting on the bottom of the plastic container.
Should be fine doing it that way. I just gave my panther his last dose tonight. He ate out of my hand for the first time. So that was kind of exciting.
