Im waiting on my 14 to hatch into moths. Has been 3 weeks so I have a week or 2 to vo before they actually emerge. I built a 2 ft X 2 ft x 3 ft cage, put my tupperware container withe the pupae in there a tomato plant and hummingbird feeder. Added a 60 watt grow light for the tomato plant. Built...
I run ceiling fans 24/7 in every room of my house. In the cham room it is on low just to circulate air, really cant even feel it unless you stick your hand a couple feet from it. Helps keep the room at a more constant temperature and helps dry out the cages between mistings.
I have 14 pupae right now. Probaby another week or so before the begin to hatch out. I let them pupate in the house at 70 degrees, then a week later I moved themto the garage where the temp is 10 - 15 degrees warmer. I mist the eco earth they are in every day to hold the moisture. Hope this...
One time I put a few crickets in for my gargoyle gecko to eat and in a few days the cage was over run with pinheads. Had to completly empty the cage and wash it out.
If you take her outside to get a couple or 3 hours of light a day I'd say your fine til the end of the week, if not you should get a new bulb asap. They will be ok for a couple days without uvb but 4 or 5, I wouldn't chance it. I always keep a couple extra bulbs around in case of emergencies. If...
I use those fake vines you buy at the pet store and bamboo sticks I get in a bundle at walmart. I sand the bamboo with heavy grit sand papper so tney can get a good grip on them. Have even sandblasted a few. But yes you can use dead branches from outside or from other plants you use. I like the...
Just built my moth breeding cage last night. Just some 1x2 rough cut pine and screen. 24x24x36 cost me 25 bucks to build, bought a humming bird feeder and a tomato plant and a plant bulb so around 50 bucks in all.
we have a big tobacco farm just a mile from us. Maybe i'll ask the farmer if i can gather the worms off his plants and bring them home and breed them. but if my 14 that have pupated do good and lay eggs like crazy i'll have more than i'll know what to do with. i'll have to bring them to work and...
I'm attempting this right now. I have 14 worms that pupated early this week. Also building a large screen cage to house the moths in my garage. Should I dig the worms out of the dirt now and lay them on paper towels in the cage or wait and let the hatch out and dig themselves out?
Not too cold at all, mine gets around 65 at night and they both are in screen cages. If your house stays above 55 degrees no need for a heat source or using glass cages. They need plenty of cross "wind" to keep stagnat air at bay. One cage I built with both sides and top screen and the back is...
Do not use soil or anything else as a substrate that the chameleon might eat while catching iys food. I leave my cage bottoms bare with drain trays underneath to catch the excess water from my misters.
Get one of each, I started with a Veiled and a month later bought a ambilobe from a local to me member. He is now almost 16 months old and doing great. Now I'm thinking about a girlfriend for him and maybe even one for my veiled. My panther now eats out of my hand but the veiled is a terror and...
I buy all my feeder insects online or at reptile shows. I buy 2000 crickers a month from the reptile show and hornworms from lindas gone buggie. Also get roaches every couple months. Online would bethe cheapest route for you if you dont have a reptile show close.
