What happens when they hatch in the viv with the adults? I would think something so small wouldn't have much of a change with something so much bigger. Do the adults leave them alone?
An aquarium shop will sell them and tell you how to set it up and keep it running well. That's probably the best place to get a small one (25-100 gal/day) for herps. Water stores (like Culligan) or or home improvement stores as well.
Alright, I'll try that out.
That's another thing... eggs. I know with most larger chams (I've only kept veiled and a panther) you have to remove and incubate the eggs. Is that different with pygs? I'd imagine it's difficult to find and dig them out of a heavily planted viv...
My goal is...
I'm setting up a new viv next week that will include some pygmies. I've set up terrariums before, but I want to do this one "right". I have a couple questions/ideas, hoping someone can give me a little insight.
First, substrate and draining. I'm using hydroton for water storage and a carbon...
Are you a crack baby or something? What the heck does that have to do with anything? And the boyfriends and zombies too. A little trouble focusing, ehh? Maybe you should read the thread from the beginning.
It's nice to have people who understand the hurt of losing a reptile... it's no easier than losing a dog or other mammal. Thanks for the kindness. Most other people who heard about it thought it was "funny" how he died... why on earth would that be funny. Laughter of that kind was not what I...
Totally understand you there... and it is harder for people to see why reptiles are so special to their keepers. I don't know why. Most of the people who heard about Ling's death thought it was sort of comical... which only makes it a million times worse.
You were lucky to have such a sweet...
And if you do, please keep you kids locked in the house so that nothing happens to them. Perhaps the house would even be too dangerous. Keep them in a closet - that way, accidents will be impossible. But I'm sure this is already your plan, right?
There is no boyfriend, I have no friends, and I haven't played video games since I was 9. I go to school, I go to work, and I come home and take care of the animals the best I am able. That's all.
One day this week we noticed that Ling was getting a little curious about moving around more, so we immediately took the rat's cage out of the room. I was especially careful to keep an eye on him this week, and made some changes to his setup just in case he decided to wander. I still had a few...
If it were up to me, I would really rather not... but it's my sister's rat, and she loves it as much as I do the chameleons.
And Javsto, thanks for you "advice", but I honestly don't want to hear it. There is a huge difference between making helpful suggestions (kindly) and slamming someone...
I buried him this morning with a couple leaves from the plant he slept in every night. Glad the ground was soggy... made it quick and just a little easier.
Thanks for that vivid depiction; seeing him like that wasn't quite enough - I needed to hear that, as well. Actually, I didn't have time to grab the stopwatch before running out the door. Why the cuss does that even matter? I did everything I could to get him help immediately. I knew the vet...
