Ok. Awesome. I'm going to try it. Do you know if they are more like treats as well or can I give him 1 a day if he eats it? He does seem to like free range eating but I can't do that with the crickets as they escape my enclosure. I have some upfitting to do to it but we've spent so much money...
He has just turned a year or so guestimating. I figured I'd try it instead of just throwing them away. He went on a hunger strike for like a week and those hornworms grow so big, so fast. Lol.
Lol! I'm a bit of a crafty person. I put a twist tie on the top so when they start to file, I can just undo the twist tie and open Rosco's door and let it in that way. I dont know how it will work, but we'll see. Are the moths, the same as the hornworms...treats? How long do the moths live and...
Ok. Great! Thank you! I was thinking about getting a clay pot, fill it with soil and then putting screen over it for when they come out of the cocoon. Do you think it would be ok to keep them outside or should I keep them inside? It is low 70s to low 90s in my area.
@Beman or @Gingero can I still use the hornworm moths since they are in paper? Can or should i transfer them to soil? When watching the video, I was under the impression that when they start, they should not be moved or am I wrong?
Ugh. That's what I was worries about. Probably can't use them now, can I? Do they look ok otherwise? I watched videos and they soon to be be good. ?♀️
This is my first time allowing hornworms to turn to moths. I'm wondering if these look ok. All I could think to use is our shredded Bill's as substrate. ? I guess they might be good for something after all. Hahaha. Although I'm not sure if it's ok to use sheddes paper or not. ?
Poor baby! You are in the right place and as much as I'd love to give you advice to help you out, I am also new to this chameleon ownership roughly a month ago. Everyone here is very helpful and there are a lot of knowledgeable people who offer advice kindly. I am so sorry your boy has gone...
Yep! I built it. I enjoy being a Jill of all (or most) trades, outside of plumbing and electrical. Lol. I built a wooden bench for our back patio and that only took 3 days. This enclosure took like 3 weeks. Hahahaha. 2 by 2's are a pain to build with but I love the look. The boards are cut in...
Alrighty! I got it washed, rinsed, repotted with organic potting soil and rocks on top. The only other foliage I had in there was the fake leaves up top on the branches which will soon be taken out and replaced with a golden pothos plant in waiting anxiously to grow a bit longer. That umbrella...
Yes. This misting system is all new to me. My mom already bought him the supplies. Lol. She likes him too. Even refers to herself as Nonnie which is what my kids call her. Hahaha.
Thank you! I love him for sure. My husband wants a tortoise too. Lol. I think my dogs would freak out if we had one of those but they are so cool. I agree with you on the bird. Our neighbor has one and he leaves it outside and it talks like a broken record. Hahaha.
I have seen a lot of those videos and find them to be very helpful as well. I found Virginia Creeper vine and he LOVES it. I've been able to twist it around the branches that I had, so he has branches that are zip tied horizontally (at an angle) and then the vine that loops around the front and...
I have mostly branches from those types of trees but didn't have enough to fill in the gaps so I bought the Flukers on Amazon. They seem nice. I'm glad I happened to get the right ones by chance.
