Sorry for misunderstanding.
Yes you can have a cage that size with a divider in between. We make custom cages like that all the time. The only thing I would recommend is to not use wood as the divider. As it would eventually warp and rot from continual humidity and moisture from constant...
I provide UVB for all my pygmys and have had no problems. The Stump Tail book, which is the holy grail for raising pygmys, suggests that a low level of UVB should be provided.
With that being said, I use Old 6% Arcadia Bulbs, that are past their prime for my pygmy setups, provide dense...
Yes you will be fine with a 5.0. You may want to make sure that the bulb is lifted off the top of the screen as they can be alittle intense for pymgys, unless you have really dense foilage.
You want to get a 24x24x48 cage and lay it on its side? and then put a piece of wood in the middle of the cage as a divider?
What species are you keeping?
Unless your housing a small chameleon species a 2'x2'x2' cage is too small for any of the typical chameleon species. With a majority...
My take on UVB for Pygmys is that they get it in the wild so they should have it in captivity.
Obviously provide Shade spots /dense foliage so they can get out of the UVB when they want.
For all my Pygmy enclosure I use an Arcadia 6% bulb and Jungle Dawn LEDs. It's one of the only combos...
I don't have any experience with this but others on here will definitely be able to help.
I have a few questions/concerns that I would be thinking about if it were me.
Like said how to control temps as they can get very hot.
What type of roof is on the green house? As most...
In my experience they prefer horizontal space over vertical space.
The recommendation for keeping Pygmys communally is 5 gals per Pygmy. With only one male per tank.
Remember you will lose 4-6" of space with putting in a proper sub layer and soil bottom.
The most I would recommend is 3...
yup like stated above. Looks good, just try to add a few small diameter branches/twigs/sticks and you should be all set.
Like Nick said the only concern would be what lights your are using, and to make sure temperatures stay below 80.
Lauren,
Thank you so much for all the kind words. It means a lot to all of is here on the Canvas Team! Little Leo is a beast and he was always a good water. And he LOVES silks!
Your cage setup looks spectacular it's like a little jungle in there for him! :)
That is perfectly suitable for Pygmys. They enjoy more ground space compared to climbing space.
Make sure to monitor temperature and humidity closely. Anything over 80 can be fatal to Pygmys.
If you provide a 6500k and UVB your plants and pygs will be fine.
The more foliage the...
Today was a huge mix of emotions for everyone here. First a major storm comes out of no where, damages everyones car and home crazyness. Tow Trucks, ambulance, fire trucks everywhere.
We had a plan before all this happened to meet up with Carl last night and give him his new set of baby...
Everyone has different opions on misting systems. Personally we use MistKing for our enclosures and we have yet to have an issue. They are a bit pricey but well worth the money in my opinion.
If you get any automated misting system it will benefit your water/humidity loving jackson greatly!
