    my new life long goal...

I do organic farming. Seriously hard work, much harder than spraying chemicals. The farm I work on has a nursery that speializes in native plants. And in the spring I plant a half acre garden, this year I'll add greens for gut loading. I also want to open an exotic shop and breeding facility...

    Mist vs Drip?

I've heard that a dripper can be invaluable, as it mimics rain and the natural movement chameleons use to find drinking water in the wild. I suppose you can accomplish this with a misting system, but who wants to set there with a spray bottle? I would go dripper first, make sure you have proper...

    Not feeding

Ok I've had my panther about five days, in those five days he has not taken any food. I realize that it can take a week or so for them to get acclimated to their new environment and I'm trying to minimize my presence as much as possible. I've got two live pothos and some bamboo for him to climb...

    Finished my Cage. (with pics)

I've built out of wood in the past, you may want to consider several coats of sealer or waterproofing of some kind to prevent mold and mildew as we as it simply rotting an falling apart.

I just used speaker wire, looped and tied it through the top of the cage. The 1/2" wire and zip tie combo is sturdy enough. Not sure about what I'll do it with when my new cage comes. This one will be my outdoor/temporary housing for new chams.

I changed it around. He's been drinking, but I haven't seen him eat yet. Could just be stress from shipping I'm hoping he becomes comfortable with his new cage.

Sorry for the poor lighting. After someones comment about how my cage looked, I think I'm going to to delegate it to an outdoor cage, I ordered a 4' model from LLL and some bendable vines ghostwood, my supplements and a tube fixture for UVB I'm going to keep this compact flourescent for a...

Just wondering what the biggest horned chameleon species is?

Probably deremensis. They aren't offered often, and are incredibly sensitive to humidity and temp fluctuations I have heard.

I'm going to get mine tmrw, cage is about 4.5 feet tall if I go mercury vapor I suppose I could just set it further away. Just gonna have to see what brands they offer and go from there.

    UVBBulb?

What's the downfall of the cfl bulbs? Not enough surface area to get equivalent output of a tube? Same with mercury vapor? I've heard mvb is great for growing *ahem* certain types of plants guess that's a different spectrum than what our chams need.

I noticed yesterday he was doing the thing were they blow up their eye to clear it out for whatever reason. Could be what you see. He hasn't done it today so he looks good to me.

I sure will. One of my friends moms has a huge room for her herps, so at least I have someone locals brain to pick. There is one or two shops in the knoxville area that deals in herps but they won't buy anything during the winter months other than the few snakes and beardeds they breed. I was...

    Mulberry's new Enclosure. Advice?

You might want to put a thermometer on his basking spot and other areas to make sure those bulbs are providing you the proper temperature gradients. Also maybe lower some of the plants/vines further down so he can move to those thermal gradients with ease. To me it looks as if everything is...

Thanks all. It's really always been my passion. Ive had leopard geckos , cresteds, bearded dragons, cornsnakes, ridge tail monitors. I love chameleons though, although I had only had veileds and successfully bred them before selling my collection and moving out. I'm back though and here to stay...

    Cheap Easy Drainage system

Looks pretty cool, I've used those concrete mixing tubs in the past to build laying cages for gravid females as well as them being waterproof. You could probably leave out the bucket and put an icemaker valve on the bottom of the tub and control when you drain it. Plus the sound of water...

Hello all, my first Cham in over five years arrived in the mail this morning. He crawled out of the bag, and right onto my arm. Beautif colors, large size for his age and over all a very happy 1.0 Nosy Faly who has not been named yet. For anyone considering buying, I highly recommend the...

Cheap and easy to build, thoughts?

Yea this is just a mock up, I'll have my UVB bulb later this week and adding more foliage as well. Just trying to show off my creation. It's no prefab, but water isn't an issue with constant mistings I've had that problem in the past w wood cages. Not bad for free though, not sure what the wire...
