You could try the shower thing, but really you should take it to a vet. There are a bunch of possible reasons for the swelling and all the ones I can think of would be best treated by a vet.
Good luck, i hope he pulls through.
You will have problems and both females will do much more poorly than they would if kept in their own enclosures... You can start a breeding colony with just one female veiled with the way they reproduce :D
That's a great idea to buy some up! Imagine if all you could get were those crappy and expensive incandescents made specially for reptiles... You'd be spending a fortune for nothing!!
I've recently finished switching out all the conventional bulbs in our house to the corkscrew flourescents too... except the ones over my chameleons, of course :)
Totally over the top!! lol... but you've got all the makings of a master chameleon keeper :D
I'm sure both you and the cham will relax with a bit of time...
Interesting observation about the arabian chams being more prone to mbd. It's hard for me not to suspect it has to do with calyptratus being the most commonly kept species by first time cham owners and young kids with improper setups... It does seem likely that they would be more sensitive to...
If what you've described about his setup being perfect is true, then no need to worry. The best thing you can do is just leave him alone and let him settle in. Your presence will add to his stress a bit... I'm sure he's fine. Some panthers are just kinda dark as juvies.
Also, just curious...
Kinyonga, are you saying that because of the way his legs look?
Paul, does your male hold himself up high when on the branches or does he hunker down and hug the branch? Chams with severe mbd have trouble holding themselves up and often let the branch support some of their weight...
