You know, I am having an extremely hard time not believing this is staged somehow. I admit I am not a biologist but I just have a hard time seeing how the male could have swallowed the other chameleon whole like that. I am also noticing that the legs are pointing upward but the tail is hanging...
Yes, the enclosure was very much too small. It was one of those stupid glass exoterra terrariums they push in the petstores now (the one with the "Buddha" in the background).
Couldn't have said it better.
My 2 cents, move the birds or move the chameleon. Maybe your veiled will get used to it, maybe it wont.
Then again maybe a mouse will get used to having a cat living in the same room, maybe it wont. I personally would rather just separate them and spend my...
Great pics Dr. O!
(Which camera are you using? Might be a field of view feature- mine has one)
Great looking little guys. You going to be putting them up for adoption?
[Edit]
By the way, I really like that last picture. Hope you will consider entering it in that photo contest.
Well, I am not a breeder, but if I may offer a suggestion...
" i also want them to live a healthy live so yea i spent the extra money to care for them"
Don't look at it as spending a little extra, look at it as spending what is necessary to ensure their health and comfort. I do not see this as...
...when you give up that once in a lifetime all expenses paid vacation to France because you cannot find a suitable, trustworthy sitter for your chams.
(If only I were so lucky to be put in this predicament...)
I would definitely put up a visual barrier between the two cages and make sure the veiled cannot see the birds. I know mine likes to walk around and climb all over the place- until he sees a bird (we used to have a Green Cheek Conure). He would then stop in place and change to his freaked out...
Still hard to see but I am calling female.
[Edit]
Hey, is it just the angle or do her eyes look sunken? If they look sunken she could be dehydrated.
Gorgeous chameleon nonetheless!
Agreed, the parrots were the first thing to pop out at me. Also, you mentioned having another flexarium next to it- anything in it? One of the parrots? If you have another chameleon or lizard in the other flexarium consider putting a visual barrier between them.
Might be a good idea to check...
I have no experience with Jackson's at this point. I just wanted to pop my head into this thread and offer my condolences. Losing a pet is never easy- especially watching them crash so quickly as you did. I cannot imagine that was easy.
I think it is great that you came here to find some...
Ah, gotcha!
Cool video! I wonder what software environment they did that in.
I don't know nearly as much about fractals as I would like to but am very interested in projects like this. I have a project in the works (but on the back burner) which is related.
You have effectively...
Fine points. Jumping off of that, a big problem I see is often they do not know they do not know. To give an example with plants- I cannot being to tell you how many times I have been in a plant nursery, mentioned something to an employee about a plant which perhaps contradicts something they...
