From what I have read, they make great composters as well. Perfect if you are a gardener!
Oops, I am specifically thinking of solderflies. Must be time for bed, I am mixing up threads in my head.
Something like this:
I suspect other, less crude, options exist- this is simply what popped into my head. An incubator might be a better, more reliable option if the expense is compatible with your circumstances. That would also come in handy down the road of you decide to let your...
I am not sure about the adults. The larvae are hard to digest from what I have read. The pin prick is done to ensure digestive enzymes penetrate the hard to digest skin and thus that nutrition is made availible to your chameleon. Otherwise, as I have read, the worm may just "pass right through"...
Not too sure about what is available in the UK. I tried calciworms for a while, LB just kind of snubbed his nose at them (the bearded dragon loves them). I know with the larvae their skin is hard to digest so to ensure proper nutritional utility you are suppose to poke them with a needle before...
I used fresh leaves that I found, uh, around... lol.
I just threw them into the container I had them in and removed the old stuff. They usually climb all over the leaves.
Avoid getting them wet.
I did not use substrate. Not sure if it can cause a problem or not but I would not be...
Dont recall for sure but I think super worms are ok, its meal worms that are hard to digest. you might want to verify that regarding the supers though. I almost never feed any of my reptiles mealworms.
You only have two options with silkworms: Fresh mulberry leaves and silkworm chow which is made from mulberry leaves. Thats pretty much it (although I feel like I read somewhere that someone did get them to eat something else but such reports are not typical and deviate quite a bit from their...
Actually..... here is a long shot
I suspect that the larger ones can jump higher and farther than the smaller ones. Put everything in a large rubbermade tote. Create some kind of physical obstical, like a stack of books in side, which divides the tote into two sections (better do this before...
How many are we talking here? Too many to just pick out the big ones?
I cant think of a specific method besides perhaps getting a funnel and trying to use it as a sieve in a way. Dont know how well that would work.
Ferret, your mission should you choose to accept it, is to write the most awesome and comprehensive book on Chameleon medicine known to mankind- thus securing you eternal awesomeness status among chameleon people. We will sing your praises and name a holiday in your honor.
(No pressure)
Yeah... I would have been pretty ticked off by that.... Oh well, accidents happen. Might be worth ordering a bunch of pinheads (or size of your choice) online.
Only place I have ordered silkworms from is Mulberry so I cant really recommend anywhere else based on experience. I did see one website, google search "Silkworm lady" I think you can find it that way. Again, no experience with this company.
I have also never ordered from great lakes...
YES!!!! I knew Sandra would come through for me! Awesome!
lol
By the way, anyone here experience the joys of home cheesemaking? Fresh Ricotta made the traditional way from whey and vinegar is so friken bomb! Nothing like the store bought!
Then again, fresh mozarilla... (slobber)
I love...
Same here, dont have facebook. Facebook is evil! Its also better if you put the images here so people do not have to chase down photos on other websites. I tend to check a lot of forum posts each day between the 5 or so forums I am active on- its a hassle to follow a link to facebook (or...
Here is all the info Sandrachameleon hooked me up with when I first landed here:
"welcome to the forum and the joy of chameleon keeping.

Mine does that sometimes. I think that means he's hungry (or thirsty). I have noticed he plays 'George of the Jungle' when he wants something- food or water.
